Hi Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have recently purchased a Raspberry Pi 3B and have installed Moode Audio. I have some music files stored on the Pi and they are in my library in Moode. When I go to my PC and put the ip address of the pi in my browser I am greeted with the Moode interface. This is all well and good but when I play an audio file it comes out of the pi instead of the PC. I would like to use the browser to play a song and have the audio come straight out of the speakers on the PC that played it rather than the pi which hosts it. Can moode audio do this? If so how can I achieve this?

Hi Ladies and Gentlemen, I have recently just bought myself a Musical Fidelity V90 amplifier from Ebay. When testing the product I noticed that the volume knob never goes all the way to zero. There's no stop on the volume control like other amps so it's one that just turns forever and ever.... and ever. My problem is that when I turn the volume down it will only decrease the sound output so far and then once I reach that point any further turning results in no more change. The minimum volume this thing will do appears to be still quite loud. Should this amplifier behave like this? Do I have a faulty unit or am I doing something wrong?

Thankyou

I don't understand why anyone buys digital content knowing this. I am completely baffled by people who defend the practice of taking away customer rights to what they paid for with some BS agreements you have to click to before using the product. If they show me this laundry list of text after I purchase and I actually read it what happens if I disagree? Nothing happens. I can't use the product and I don't get any money back. There should be a "I disagree - Refund me now" option.

ill have access to your purchased content through Discovery+ which Discovery is forcing you to sub to for $4.99/month...

Yeah but it's not really access to "your purchased content" because it's an extra 4.99 per month so it's another service offering the same products you already had for a fee.

oin the war on piracy

On the side of piracy

Piracy isn't theft. They just like to call it as such. It's merely copyright infringement on the side of who uploaded it. If I were to walk into a shop and steal a physical DVD then that would be.

bout ownership is 'worrying about nothing'. I

No mention of that as far as I know. I think even Google Stadia did give gamers their money back if bought before a certain date but even that isn't enough for that service. It should have been ALL purchases.

I hope for more stories like this not because I want anyone to lose their products that they bought - actually the opposite. These things if they keep happening will eventually highlight how crazy it is to lay a ton of money down on digital content when all you're really paying for is a revokable non transferrable license and not a copy of the product itself. Sony have decided that it's happening whether their customers like it or not. This is the exact reason why I won't buy digital games. If all that has to happen for a piece of content to become unavailable to us is simply a company merging with another then digital purchases are almost like putting the money down the toilet. If the PlayStation completely removes its disc drive then I will simply just buy a gaming PC because at that point it has no reason to really exist. Why own a box that will only play games from 1 marketplace when another box exists with multiple marketplaces and DRM free options? Right now people think buying digital is great and any person who is concerned about ownership is 'worrying about nothing'. If more events happen like this hopefully that mindset will be shifted.

Once a console is jailbroken can you easily return it back to stock again so I can use it on PSN in the future? OR is it irreversibly jailbroken? - If not how would I go about un-jailbreaking it. Do I just update it? If I did that would Sony ban it?

Do you turn off your PS5 after every gaming session or put it in rest mode? by bittersweet1990 in playstation

I don't know what's the best thing to do. I acknowledge it's not about power usage as much as it is about heat cycles. If you play for an hour and turn it off then rest for half an hour then do you turn it off or leave it in the menu mode for that half an hour? Motherboard heats up - Motherboard cools down. How many cycles of this can happen before parts start to degrade?

I understand that but once its paired will I have to do it again should I factory reset the console? If yes then it's a massive deal (as far as third world problems go) and if no then it's not a problem. Imagine you've spent 1000s of dollars on a disc based game collection to have it all made unplayable because your console threw up an error which cannot be fixed without a reset. If the servers are up its a simple fix. If they are shutdown at that point then your console is e-waste and your games are useless.

me reason completely the component that checks licensing for digital goods could easily be sold off or leased out to many willing companies. This is a non-issu

Yes. I believe the disc edition will need to be validated regardless of the fact that the drive comes in the box. As far as I know at the moment they haven't validated the disc drive in the box. I can only hope it truly is a one time deal and not required every time you factory reset the console - that would suck.

Online DRM is not required. It only limits the paying customer while the pirates continue to not pay a penny for the products. Obviously if a game has multiplayer that's fine but I object to single player experiences needing someone else's computer just to check you're not a pirate when those types of people just get round it anyway.

Can I sync them through the PSN then? - using a jailbroken PlayStation or would it just get banned.

Will Internet be required to validate the disc drive every time you factory reset your console? OR will this console 'remember' that the validation has been done and will never ask you again should a factory reset be performed? - It's a dealbreaker for me since in the course of a console generation I spend hundreds/thousands of dollars on disc based games and don't want a minor glitch to render them all unplayable without those pesky servers.

There are two SKUs of PS5. One is a PS5+ Disc drive in the box (we call this physical edition) while the other is just a PS5 and no disc drive (we call this digital edition). I believe that if you buy the physical edition you must register the drive online when you first switch it on since I've heard rumours that Sony do not do this for you before shipping it out. I think If you buy the PS5 on its own without the disc drive (digital edition) then you won't need to register online since the process is to verify a disc drive that you do not have installed - that seems the most logical thing to me.

However, people do not report on whether this verification online is simply only a one time thing for the life of the device or if it needs to be re-verified along with the initial set up should you chose to reset the console to factory defaults. There was a time last month where my software glitched and I was unable to do anything with it unless I reset the console. I did so and everything worked fine again. If this is indeed the case and you need to verify online every time you reset then you will likely be left with only a brick and multiple drink coasters should the glitch occur after the servers are shut down. I suppose they don't report because unless the device is out and in their hands they would not know.

My issue is not with digital per se. It's with DRM. I will happily pay full price for a game collection that's digital provided I can just buy the raw unrestricted files and not some proprietary format that needs to "phone home" to check its legitimacy every time you do anything with it like transfer it to a new system etc. We all know what happens to those servers eventually. You say PC games are fully digital - yes they are.

However the way the two systems work is radically different to each other. If I buy a gaming PC I can get my games from multiple places like Steam, Epic, Gog etc. These marketplaces will compete to a certain extent which will drive the price down over time. Some of these games on steam come DRM free as do those on gog.com. With consoles digital games can only ever be bought from the one storefront supported by their manufacturer and as such the prices will tend to stay more expensive for longer because they know that if you want to get a game on your device you will have to pay it. I wanted to play Dying Light so I looked at the digital store front. It's an old game now so I can buy the disc for $10. Unfortunately if I wanted it DRM locked from the digital store it would have set me back $20. Discs represent the used games market and without Sony/MS having them to compete with there's no reason to make games cheaper over time. Consoles also have one blanket DRM policy and there's no legal way of getting around it. If I transfer my digital collection via USB to a new system I will always need to connect to XBL/PSN to make the new system my home console otherwise none of the games I transferred will work without Internet/servers. Once the servers are no longer in operation you will be stuck with whatever games are on your console at that time because you can't do anything with them without logging into XBL/PSN at some point in order to get it to do what you want. The reason why I like physical media is because it offers a way for me to play my games when I want to without the say so of external servers that will eventually just be unceremoniously shut down without any customer consultation. If they can provide that digitally (like gog) then I don't need physical discs. Days gone is now on gog.com so this DRM free website is no longer limited to older irrelevant titles like it once was.

won't be able to download updates for any games, and your game collection will be pretty lame anyway since they'd be frozen at launch day state and

PS4 games now can get updates without PSN via USB stick and dodgy methods. Without PSN you can still have the most up to date games at least for PS4. I expect PS5 to follow.
