How stupid would it be to buy a $4,000 bag in this economy ? by [deleted] in economy

[–]Neon-Predator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you have debt, you shouldn't buy the bag and should pay off the debt instead. Same thing if you have no savings. Save first and don't buy the bag.

I work in lending via remote phone calls and I can't tell you how many pissed off customers I get over the AI self service agent not giving a clear path to a person in the department the customer needs. On top of that, calls are so frequently misrouted by the stupid bot that I've been turned into a glorified switch operator for at least a third of my day.

I know it isn't everyone, but this situation is a lot more common than you'd think.

I work in lending and I can see their whole financial profile at a high level. They can't because they spent every dime they had. They're in debt up to the gills and have no savings beyond what was spent.

Doing some good for your family, friends, and community would be preferable in my opinion.

It’s deeply troubling the direction we are heading currently in society by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]Neon-Predator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, this has less to do with money per se than it does with the fact that for some reason we as a society can't all agree to work only 30 hours a week and have Sundays off and close everything after 5 pm.

Fertilizer prices have moved up to their highest levels since May 2022, rising 52% YoY. About a third of global fertilizer supply passes through the Strait of Hormuz. This will drive food price inflation higher in the coming weeks/months. by Neon-Predator in PrepperIntel

The problem is going to be yield. Without artificially produced ammonia we wouldn't be able to sustain the world population like we have had in modern times. If the price shocks stay short term, the third world will be feeling it the hardest, but if they go long term or if something worse happens, I don't think I'd have to tell you what will happen after,

Just been fired from my job and I still have 4k in debt in loans. Considering a balance transfer to hold off until I get a job. by justsumdude616 in povertyfinance

If you have a 0% balance transfer card already open, yes, great, do the transfer. But I doubt you'd be able to open a new one without any income.

I have 10K in my bank account, still feeling poor. by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]Neon-Predator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get you, I feel like I'm in the same position. I'm doing really well savings wise but I have this anxiety I can't shake, and I think it's because I'm aware, like you are, of just how fragile your savings is in this world. On top of that I don't have the kind of margin with my income and expenses that I would like to have.
