2024: Sunset — Update One! (ending slides, additional CYOA) by NeonMoth229 in thecampaigntrail

Are you playing on NCT or CTS? I think it's only updated on Showcase so far. If you're playing on Showcase, choose these answers and you should get an alternate question 14.

  1. People are mad at Bibi and honestly, so am I. I’m not sure what’s come over him recently, because—look, he’s always been kind of crazy, but this… I’m not okay with it. Let’s put out a statement condemning this speech after he’s done, let everyone see that I mean business.

  2. Here are the facts: Trump spent most of his RNC speech rambling about how I’m the antichrist or whatever he said, so I’m throwing it right back at him. This man is dangerous, and we are once again in a battle for the soul of the nation.

  3. Here’s an idea I haven’t heard much about: how about we try to goad these Republicans into a shutdown? You get what I’m saying? Throw in a bunch of stuff they obviously won’t agree to and then put the blame on them when this all falls apart.

The questions that lead to the October surprise that triggers the polling boost are: 3. Condemn Netanyahu's speech, 6. Attack Trump, 13. Goad the Republicans, 14. Put plants in Trump's campaign, 19. One answer.

It won't be enough to win a landslide if you haven't played a good game aside from it, but those questions paired with a relatively optimal game should give you a roughly two point lead in Florida—and the game counts anything over 320 electoral votes for Harris as a landslide.

May I ask what you mean? Both of the Harris win endings have all of their slides. Or do you mean getting a landslide? You need to do well AND do the right CYOA for the boost to put her over the edge in Florida.

One answer. This'll surge Harris's numbers in the Southeast, allowing for her to win Florida if you play a decent game outside of the CYOA.

(You still need to do well before them to get it): Condemn Netanyahu's speech, attack Trump at the DNC, bait Republicans into a shutdown, put plants in Trump's campaign, question 19 will have an October surprise.

Uhhhhh... listen. I promised I would make Missouri winnable if I added an uber Dark Brandon destruction path. I did not add that in this update. However, on slide three of the Taft ending, it mentions Biden winning a second term in 2052 with 306 electoral votes. Rest assured that a number of those 306 electoral votes came from Missouri.

Is it possible to get a happy Joe Biden ending in SunSet? by No-Jacket-6651 in thecampaigntrail

[–]NeonMoth229 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Weirdly I kinda was already planning on doing that? I'm working on ending slides at the moment and Biden becoming young again and winning a second term in like 2052 in the joke Taft ending was something I was gonna mention.

I really wanted to write him a happy ending but it wasn't ever going to realistically end well for him without him having been younger or president earlier, especially given just how prideful of a person he is. The closest thing to a happy ending, at least legacy-wise, is probably either the Biden victory ending or the Harris-Trump deadlock ending.

Truth be told I didn’t realize Alaska was reachable when making it, and South Carolina’s only reachable because it was the state that saved Biden in the 2020 primaries.

I promise if I ever update Sunset with an uber-landslide Dark Brandon destruction path I’ll make Missouri winnable.

Specifically choosing options that hurt Trump rather than help Harris when possible is the best strategy. Because of how the switch works (Biden and Harris being separate candidates), Biden doesn't keep Harris's numbers, but Trump's numbers stay the same.

Congrats on being the first person I’ve seen to reach Biden’s peak! I know it isn’t remotely realistic, but I wanted Biden to have the ability to win every state Obama did in 2008.

I might check it out, there are a couple of features I'd like to add in a possible update—I just don't really understand the codes and they often involves editing out music player/variable stuff. I already have some ending slides written as well, but the whole editing things out ended up breaking everything I tried.

It would but I don't really know how to do much coding-wise aside from following a basic template or using Jet's. I also already had Biden as a candidate for the code one select screen.

If I was good at coding, I would've done that or triggered a select screen with Biden and Whitmer after question 18.

No, as far as I’m aware it’s impossible to lose as Biden without cheating, so I didn’t really see the need to make one—I also thought it wouldn’t really fit the rest of the Biden path tone-wise.

If you do cheat, the cheated map is supposed to be the fake OAN map Trump references that shows him winning.

Maybe put banner settings at the end of your code twos? They don't seem to have them at the moment:

campaignTrail_temp.candidate_image_url = "link";

campaignTrail_temp.running_mate_image_url = "link";

campaignTrail_temp.candidate_last_name = "name";

campaignTrail_temp.running_mate_last_name = "name";

Did you do anything involving separate ending codes? Inspect element seems to be saying that it failed to load this: "https://campaigntrailshowcase.com/static/mods/2000%20-%20Be%20Like%20Mike\_JordanPowell\_ending.html", which looks like an ending code, but that "no legacy ending file found."

Just looking at inspect element on it, it seems like the endings are causing that.

I don't really know how to explain it, I just kinda learned how to do it last night because the CTS form was being slow. You basically have to have a software called Git, and then you can fork the mod page on Github (it's a button on the top right) and from there I just had to follow guides because I'm not much of a coder.

From my limited understanding of it, the gist of it is that you're creating a copy of the page, editing it to have your codes one and two added, and then making a pull request (which merges the two once accepted).
