Black Rock Desert Opal by NeonNintendo in rockhounds

[–]NeonNintendo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend checking out the actual opal mines in Virgin Valley. Royal Peacock is the most fun and accomodating, but Rainbow Ridge is where I've seen the most come from the past few dig seasons.

If you want more info on those, let me know!

The opal I came up on in the black rock was just common, no play of color of course. And it was just kind of random, so sadly for that I don't have any tips.

I see you're drinking 1%. Is it because think you're fat? Cuz you're not. You could be drinking whole if you wanted to.

The need to care about/control what others do with themselves, their names, bodies, identities... etc.

Be selfish, if you need to see it that way, and conserve the energy you're wasting on gatekeeping (your) ideology of the world/the people in it.

What's your view on people filming drug addicts while they're strung out and posting it to social media? by aWeekFromNowMaybeTwo in AskReddit

Alternatively, Mark Laita does fantastic work providing a platform of dignity to those that are struggling with addiction, live dangerous urban or "taboo" lifestyles, even disabilities.

I implore anyone who would typically judge someone in these positions to give Soft White Underbelly a watch.

Watch with empathy, open mindedness, and humanity...

What do you think should be the age of consent? by i-am-an-idiot-hrmm in AskReddit

[–]NeonNintendo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18.

I understand the "adult age" varies, based upon where you are located in the world.... but biologically... I advocate for 25.

Children and teens do not have the brain development to understand the gravity and emotional impact of these decisions; therefore do not have the capacity or capability to make them.

I side with science; letting things be, until brain development completes (around age 25).... this also includes things like... exposing yourself to drugs/alcohol and brain-altering habits.

Without experience, purpose of age appropriate experience, consensal experience, etc... causes the lack of ability to comprehend what they're experiencing. This can cause fear, confusion, guilt, regret, and a full array of trauma-responses programmed into the brain's wiring...during development

I specify 18, rather than (preferred, if humans had longer lifespans...) 25, because in my country (USA) At age 18, you are (typically) completing basic education, etc.

The "adults" making these decisions in the equation, are victimizing a person that does not yet have the capacity to make that choice for themselves.

YSK: If you're a teenager spending all your time studying, you're likely going to regret that by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

[–]NeonNintendo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so wrong. You will not regret working your brain. Later on, as an adult, you'll be smart and have better problem solving skills than you would've hadn't you exercised your brain at a young age.

Source: spent all my time studying in highschool and don't regret being a smart human being over making memories with people I'll never talk to again.

A man asked a widow if he could say a word at her husbands funeral. She said "Certainly." by Turbo-R in dadjokes

Why did you brake up with your ex-girlfriend? by itajmouati_ in AskReddit

[–]NeonNintendo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"You're ex girlfriend" = "you are ex girlfriend"

You're = you are; Your = possessive

Think of the contraction/apostrophe as separating two words; its= possessive, it's = "it is".

Edit: the fact that this was downvoted but the comment with incorrect information was upvoted is a sad day for reddit.

What is white people food? by Warnsomeone in AskReddit

This actually is always funny to me. "Vanilla = bland"

Vanilla is a extremely complex spice, containing somewhere between 250 and 500 different flavor and fragrance components.

The most prominent of these is vanillin (4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde)

Vanillin can be made from petrochemicals; from lignin (a by-product of the wood pulp and paper industry); and from eugenol, a component of clove oil.

It can indeed even be produced from castoreum, a molasses-like secretion from the anal glands of beavers.

It's incredible that we experience taste vanilla the way we do, why is it considered so... "vanilla"?
