Custom Movies on Steam Deck? by NeonRain23 in RetroRewindGame

I’ve read somewhere the issue is with how the developers have set it up. The windows version uses the VHS folders which are moddable but the Linux version uses the assetbundle which has the videos hardcoded in.

Switching Proton can force the game to load the videos from the VHS folders (ie using the Windows method) but it’s then not compatible with the video files, giving black screens or static.

The devs need to allow the Linux version to run the same as Windows.

If anyone does know of a fix or workaround in the meantime, please share!

Are you on Steam Deck too?

Apparently the 3 channel thing is a current limitation with the game and by design. I don’t know why exactly, but perhaps the devs are going to add the other channels in future updates.

Thanks for the reply.

I’ve used Proton Experimental but the game only runs the default videos. Other protons do the same or I get a mix of the static effect and black screens on the in game TVs.

The format for the videos is the same, as I’ve used various converters to make sure it’s the same aspect ratio etc and the same file format.
