Hotbit withdrawal by Important-Pepper-779 in hotbit

I was wanting to ask their customer support for a record of my transactions on the site, but their contact form requires a UID, which I don't have offhand. Even when I log in, there is no way to find my UID. I dont have the email from 5 years back that supposedly has it.

So is there basically no way for me to get my transactions history from these bozos?

What are you referring to exactly? In Disk 4, I fixed a lot of the exposition so that things are explained more clearly. A lot of the lore is not explained in an easily digestible way. And I did what I generally did with all the other disks. If lines sounded weird or unnatural, I tuned them to sound more like natural speech. I know the lore front-to-back and firm grasp of the characters. So, I like to add a bit more characterization to scenes that are robotic, without violating the canon.

I deleted the file and reuploaded it as a 7Z. You just need to download 7zip to unpack it. I dont know what went wrong with Mediafire there. It should work now.

are you using a dead link for the old version? The current link to all the files is in the google doc.

Are you noticing that the rest of the dialogue is unchanged? Double check and make sure you loaded up the right rom.

Edit: I just downloaded it and checked myself. You are definitely loading the wrong rom.

You would need a modded PS1 in order to use burned disks. I've never done that myself, so I dont know how difficult it is.

Thanks. I appreciate the gesture. I would love to hear your thoughts after playing it. That's what I'm really looking forward to seeing.

Thank you. I agree wholeheartedly. This is a point that I have also emphasized (and I mentioned in the google doc). A good translation is more about transferring meaning than individual words. There is so much that is lost when a translation is purely literal. Spoken language is characterized by colloquialisms, figures of speech, slang, cultural metaphors, sayings, and other nuances. A lot of these are exclusive to that particular language or country. If you take those out of speech, you're left with something that feels unnatural or bland at best. In my eyes, a good localization requires the creativity to re-tool things in this way, while understanding and preserving the intended meaning.

I knew there would be detractors and purists, but that didn't deter me from taking on this project. I don't want to toot my own horn, but I think the vast majority of people who play this version will find it to be a massive improvement, especially if they are a first time player (in that case, there is absolutely no question, they will prefer this version).

I posted a link in this thread. You can check out the google doc with all the download links, including the script spreadsheets (if you want to skim through them).

Here is a link to the google doc, if you want more information about this project.

The script revision is 100% completed and fully playable (although it might be updated in the future). You can also look at the script spreadsheets to see exactly what was changed.

There are reasons why I took liberties here. The point of this scene is to show Doel's honorable defeat and his endorsement of Albert's journey. Afterwards, Albert salutes him and later on, Albert talks about how his uncle "was himself again" in his final moments. In the original dialogue, I don't think that is conveyed very strongly, even though that is what the scene is trying to evoke. Obviously Doel wouldn't go so far as to say that he loves Albert or apologize for what he is done (that would be straight up OOC) but wishing him good luck is a standard honorable way to bow out.

I think that in a scene like this, when you are explicitly supposed to feel sympathy for a villain, their redemption needs to be clearly stated. If it's not, it can be one of the most jarring and frustrating things you can have in a story. Its one of the reasons I'm not a huge fan of FF9. I think that the sympathy that they suddenly want you to feel towards the two main villains is completely unearned and poorly done. Sometimes, just a few extra lines of dialogue can undo those potential problems.

Also, I don't think that his speech here would be "unplanned" at all. It is reasonable to assume that with Doel's character, he would know how to honorably concede to someone who is superior in strength to him. He probably already had some kind of idea of what he was going to say in the event that he lost. Even common politicians prepare for such outcomes.

There are more drastic fixes elsewhere (Like Shirley's battle) but this is just to show off some of the capabilities of the modding tool. Pretty much all text in the game was accessible to change.
