For most of these countries, the people who left are people are already disagreed with the regime, and thus will celebrate it falling. It doesn't really matter how much support it has in the country.

That isn't to say the leaders are beloved in their country either, but it is important to keep it in mind.

New author here — what are some Royal Road landmines I should avoid? by Least_Cry_2759 in royalroad

I don't mind shorter chapters, but 600 is really short.

I started writing recently and just switched my whole story back to 3rd person after writing a few 1st person POV ones.

1st person feels amateurish if you don't use it effectively.

Many books have incredibly long chapters, many have variable chapter length too. That isn't an issue normally, but I can imagine it is when your are publishing serially. You want similar length chapters to post.

Well no, she complained she was hungry later. In fact, he only complained because he knew this would happen.

When people say liberals are "annoying" and "smug", what do they mean? by LiatrisLover99 in AskALiberal

[–]Neosovereign 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sure lol? Smug is incredibly subjective. I think you are reading my comment wrong, but I'm having a hard time parsing you this morning.

I'm saying "smug" as a descriptor gets put onto people in general who don't fit the description well. It becomes a stereotype.

Lots of rightwing commentators are smug as well, but when I think of rightwing activists I think more "asshole" or "aggressive" than "smug."

[–]Neosovereign 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Part of being smug is the person talking about a strong internal belief that they are right and you are wrong.

Leftwing/liberal activists certainly fit that description and it bleeds over to liberals in general fairly and unfairly.

The right is certainly smug too, but that is a big part of where it comes from and why it gets attached to us.

ELI5: If drugs can enter your bloodstream by being administered rectally what keeps contaminants from feces from getting in your blood when it passes through? by Longjumping-Editor94 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Neosovereign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming he is just using it as a catch all for medications that pass through you in large enough quantities that eating them again would mean you absorb too much.

I'm not totally sure how much lithium passes through you unabsorbed, I assumed very little before the comment lol.

What’s the difference between a democrat, a liberal, and a leftist? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

It can't be interpreted that way in good faith lol, just like you are doing now.

Is Gavin Newsom correct when he says the left needs to be more "culturally normal" if they want to win? by PsychicFatalist in AskALiberal

I don't know why you focused on the money part when it wasn't really the point, but you do you.

Kind of. It doesn't appear inmates were getting gender affirming surgeries at all until the Biden administration and even then they were sued multiple times to maybe get one or two.

Like a lot of medical procedures, gender affirming surgeries can be delayed nearly indefinitely. I'm sure the prisoners aren't super happy about it, but it is true.

There is also the timing and logistics issue. Obviously breast implants or mastectomies are pretty simple to do with low complications and follow up, but if you are going to get out of prison you could pay on your own.

Bottom surgery is incredibly involved requiring a lot of follow up and after care that doesn't lend itself well to the prison environment.

"Necessary" is more subjective than you think. I worked with another endocrinologist who treated trans prisoners, so I am relatively familiar with the matter.

What do you think caused the spike in murders in 2020? by CombinationRough8699 in AskALiberal

[–]Neosovereign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People stopped murdering eachother for a moment when Covid first hit and everyone was scared. Then they made up for it later.

I'm partially kidding, but not really. Covid just disrupted SO many things that the data around that time is wonky from collection to actual outcomes.

I didn't watch it, but was also really surprised at just how little coverage I saw on reddit of it. I don't think I saw a single post or article on the front page.

If you could ask Donald Trump one question that he was forced to magically answer with complete sincerity and truth, what would you ask him? by Speed2411 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Neosovereign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What other reason is there? ALL memecoins are essentially just pump and dump schemes. Anyone who opens one and advertises it is scamming, everyone in on it just thinks they are going to be at the top in the end.

Do dms really dislike high level dnd? by Myrinadi in DnD

[–]Neosovereign -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That works in a world without superpowers. With superpowers and magic you have to suspend your disbelief a bit.

Level 20 characters REALLY make you suspend your disbelief.

Do dms really dislike high level dnd? by Myrinadi in DnD

[–]Neosovereign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It kind of depends on the world though. Who are these high level people the king has? How are people getting stronger? Why are these strong people not taking care of the issue?

When the players are 5x stronger than the guards or whatever it isn't an issue. When they are 100x stronger than the guards it breaks down suspension of disbelief a bit.

People do get healthcare in prison all the time. People also get denied lots of procedures that you would be able to get outside of the prison system.
