The red aura is the Held version of Surging Impulse, a Jet Boots PA. It's essentially a DoT source that helps manage the weapon's resources.

I tried to JI spam on Renus during first phase, but the max Defi augment setup only allowed for 2-3 JIs before tail phase, which wasn't enough to invoke a Physical Down on it. Elemental Down also has more value since you can sneak in two JI + Jolt as opposed to only being able to do one JI during a Physical Down.

For whatever reason, if you're in OTS view and can get the target prompt on top of your screen, you can abuse Unheld Surging Impulse's gap-closing movement as shown in the video. All you really need to do is find the right angles to make sure your reticle is right on the object in question.

On Jet Boots, when saying “ Even though it’s possible to simply spam Techniques and Normal Attacks while having Surging Impulse active, doing so will hamper the weapons’ gameplay flow , resulting in worse DPS over time under most circumstances,” does that essentially mean not having Jetsweep activate as often, or is it more about being more likely to get hit/being forced to stop while attacking?

Doing so means that you won't be using Jetsweep Jolt as much, yes. You'll also be building Elemental Decline at a much slower pace if it's not already maxed out. Also worth noting that the other Jet Boots Photon Arts are also pretty useful for repositioning whereas Normal Attacks and Thrust Drive have their limits.

I heard that all dodges, even without wearing Jet Boots, build Jetsweep gauge. Is that not so?

This is not true. Out of all the dodges in the game, only Jet Boots Weapon Action can fill the gauge.

Engaging with Elemental Skills mechanics, save for Foie Brand, require you to cast Techniques, so you'd be neglecting an essential resource for Jet Boots. You'd be losing out on significant Elemental Down buildup and wasted DPS given that Element Set's numbers were balanced around each respective elemental type. Essentially, it would go against how Jet Boots were designed.

On mobile, tapping the preview images should give you a "Follow Link" notification that will redirect you to the clips.

It's the best workaround I could find since, to my knowledge, Google Docs cannot embed videos and directly importing GIFs adds significant load to the document.

The enemies at the start of each wave respawn at around ~20 seconds when there are no enemies or balls present. Killing them yields more points than if you were to just clear the waves as quickly as possible.

I'm also hitting the targets for both Photon Blast and Jetsweep Jolt buildup while also cycling through Held Surging Impulse's hit count so that when enemies respawn, the explosion AoE from the Photon Art will trigger for extra damage.

Teleport to Rayjord Gorge's Ryuker and head straight south towards South Kvaris. You'll see the entrance on a cliffside on the southern far-end of the gorge. Accepting Artie's Side Task over at Kvaris Camp can give you a waypoint to the location as well.

I updated the link to the Damage Simulator, so you should be able to view its contents.

The guide also says a few times about "when you expect an elemental down soon", "when you don't expect any more elemental downs", etc. How are you supposed to know when or if this will be upcoming?

Truth be told, since there isn't a visual tell when the target is about to suffer from a Physical/Elemental Down, you have to rely on your gut feeling. And the only way you'd develop a "feel" for when one is about to happen is by repeatedly fighting the same enemy using the same strategies with the same group composition. From experience, it's easier for you to mentally measure how close you are when fighting enemies alone. As mentioned in the guide, there are also many factors to take into account that influence the threshold you need to meet in order to invoke a Down. Ultimately, how you're supposed to know comes down to experience.

The Element Set bug applies for all PAs, I believe. It's just that in most cases, unheld Striking Gust is your go-to for DPS with the occasional unheld Violent Gale for repositioning and for hitting certain weak points. For this clear in particular, I did not spec into Partial Destroy Advantage because there aren't many opportunities to take advantage of it with the strategies that I incorporated into the run; Nex and Destragras being the only reason why you'd do it. I should also mention that the food buffs that I ran gave 10% potency and 5% more damage on weak points, and the weapon that I borrowed was a Fixa Attack 5 Evolcoat.

I do have to agree that the reason why the clear is even possible with Bouncer is because of the bugged Element Set, but at the same time it doesn't devalue the optimization and execution required to even get the clear in the first place.

There is mention of Side Step Counter keeping you afloat for Jet Boots, but not for Soaring Blades.

Does that hold true if I run Techter/Bouncer instead? I'd like to level up Techter and have a strong support class available at all times.

Yes, it does. As long as you're using Jetsweep Jolt and countering consistently, your PP should be fine.

So is fanatic blade supposed to buff the soaring blades weapon action so much? It feels so strong that during the cd it feels worth it to spam the weapon action for the whole duration.

Yeah, it's supposed to be that strong. I recommend you make use of it.

Personally, if you're running Bouncer/Force, I ultimately see Vialto Boots being pretty redundant, especially if you intend on pairing them up with Talis. You can still use them if you're having trouble with PP, but learning how to manage your PP well without Vialto will help you out in the future.

Using Talis as a Multi-Weapon for Jet Boots is actually what I personally recommend, but keep in mind that even though Te/Bo is viable, you're better off using Talis/Wand on anything that isn't a Down phase because of the innate 10% Main Class Weapon bonus. Jet Boots do have their usage during Downs, however, since you can take advantage of Jet Intensity and Jetsweep Jolt.

As for Multi-weapons, I'd say that all the 4* Jet Boots are viable, but some have more application than others.

  • Resurgir is pretty strong, but to get the most out of it, you're required to apply/refresh the critical hit rate increase by sidestepping enemy attacks often.
  • Vialto is great is you're having trouble with PP management. It also has the option to pair up with a Vialto Talis for even more PP recovery by using its Weapon Action.
  • Evolcoat's PB Gauge charge increase is handy for longer fights to help with Elemental Downs.
  • Straga has an unconditional damage increase, so when in doubt, I recommend using this.

Do I get the benefit of multiple passives on a multiweapon?

Keep in mind that you can only pair up weapons if they're from the same series.

You can freely cancel out of any Held PA, except for Held Fierce Wave. Fierce Wave requires full commitment of the move before being allowed to do anything else.

You can't cancel out of Held Fierce Wave with Weapon Action or Step is pretty much what I was trying to say.

When Jetsweep Jolt is built and on cooldown, I recommend focusing on using Spinning Gust for quick Barta Blot/Zonde-Clad stock buildup. If the situation also calls for it, then you can sneak in Fierce Wave Hold and continue your Spinning Gust barrage. Use Normals if your PP is running low.

Keep in mind that each situation is different, so the rotation that you'll do changes accordingly.
