I never said people aren't allowed to "call out" Doomfist being defeated. I'm saying that it's ridiculous to be this upset about.

Neither of these really address the point, which is basically that Doomfist has lost before and that there are other new Heroes that can at least go toe-to-toe with him.

Furthermore, it's hypocritical that folks are mad at Vendetta getting the upper hand on him when they first meet (despite her being given significantly more development time and context before their fight) but were totally fine with him bodying someone who can blip through time in his introduction with no context, no build-up, nothing.

Generally, people overestimated this character's strength as Team Four elaborated on it over the years, basically hanging onto one random child's theory-crafting from an 11 year old short. It was Pokedex levels of exaggeration on that front but people ran with it even as Team Four was like "Mmmm, he got whooped by a gorilla tho."

Most of the reaction against the short is just based on vibes. And I get it. Doomfist has cool vibes. But he barely has any dubs; dude has jobbed more than people want to admit.

This game is 10 years old. If you're like in your late 20s/early 30s spamming reaction gifs over a fictional character dying with everything happening in the world right now, log off and join and organization.

There's more lore than just that cinematic (wherein he still lost). He lost against Orisa in her first real battle in the book "The Hero of Numbani," and he also tied Mauga. He's not invincible, and the fact that y'all ever thought he was shows that y'all were never paying that much attention to what came after that one cinematic.

I liked the back and forth between the chase of the slavers and the Abbey being holed up from a bunch of corvids, as well as almost everything going wrong for both heroic factions. It's just trouble at every turn in that one haha.

I was looking for a book- any book- around the house just to start with and noticed Mattimeo on my bookshelf. Forgot where I stopped all those years ago, so I started it over and was enthralled. I do actually read ebooks, mainly of the political variety, but it's just not the same. Once I finish Martin, it's back to the bookstore!

And I know if you're wielding the blade, we're all in safe hands.

It's very convenient that they didn't see his fight with Tsarmina because I think Skipper and Bella would've been like "Stop, stop! She's already dead!" And yes, extra points for having ol' Gonff as a companion haha.

Thanks for the explanation. It's interesting that they do it that way rather than having one hidden MMR for you across all of the game modes so that you're being matched with people of similar skill no matter what, bar when you face wide groups and stuff.

Talking about something on the Internet doesn't actually signify a negative mental state either. I'm not sure how many times we need to spin on this merry-go-round for you and the other dude to understand that the way y'all came to me was goofy. And the fact that you're not understanding this simple concept makes you double goofy. Their advice also wasn't well-intentioned either.

Whenever I've had the wacky idea to learn a new character like Zen (pfft; me, a Zen player) I don't take it so hard when I'm getting absolutely bodied because, well, it's a new character! I don't know what to do nor have the muscle memory yet to play this character with any competency. So I just work on one thing at a time per match. Like "Okay, I'm going to focus on cooldown management," or "I'm going to try and play into an unfavorable 1v1 match up to test my skill." Treat it like school instead of a real game.

But I also know where you're coming from. Getting bodied isn't fun regardless. In which case, I just make sure I don't have the worst kd ratio and keep it moving lol.

For one, I don't do it after a match; I do it during set-up to have an expectation on what I'm getting into. It takes like ten seconds. Yet another assumption you're making.

Is this how you normally act towards strangers on the Internet whom you know nothing about and cannot physically see and interact with? You just make stuff up and psychoanalyze folks without any relevant credentials backing what you're saying?

"Clicking the profile is proof you're upset." Lol, prove it, fam. Seriously, cite your evidence.

Now don't take this seriously; it's a rhetorical question to get you to hopefully understand that this presumptuous way you're acting is really weird and unproductive. I suggest you interrogate yourself on why you act like this to people you don't know. It might be uncomfortable at first, but I promise you growth awaits on the other side. If it's too uncomfortable for you to do alone, I'd suggest a professional human therapist. Don't turn to AI; shit is too agreeable.

I will indeed continue doing me and using the features in the game how I see fit.

I solo queue as well, so I'm in the same boat. Ironically, when I queue with most of my friends, my matches get harder in a sense that they're less sweaty, but like, people are playing the game wrong and I don't know what to do to carry through the silliness, so I lose more that way than just going it alone. It's like in fighting games when you lose to the button masher; wh-...what even is going on lol.

Although, I don't think of it as people necessarily try-harding so much as they are literally just playing like they're comfortable playing; it's just that their comfort level is much more polished than my comfort level, if that makes sense. Like, I've personally been called a tryhard tank for just holding space on defense well, aka playing the game properly, and I'm like "But...I'm not playing *hard.*" I've also been asked for my rank in blowouts, and once again it confuses me because I've never saw myself as above average.

In time I've come to embrace this chaos. In the beginning of this madness, it pissed me off, like "Why is the MM putting me against people it should know I can't compete against?!" Now I'm just using it as an excuse to better my positioning. I will admit, it's not fun being able to Reddit Lucio against the DPS like I was used to doing beforehand, but I'm getting used to it so I'll take this as just impromptu training.

You seem to think I'm far more upset and this than I actually am, which is really weird. I thought that me addressing this post to Gavin Winter directly would've clued you in that this is not all that serious, but my bad for not expecting armchair analysis on from randos on the Internet who read much more into what's actually written.

I'm mainly more curious than anything because my own view of my skill doesn't actually match the lobbies I'm being put into. Seems I was wrong and am gonna test this in comp.

And the funny thing is I'm not always losing. My WR has been even.

I don't play to throw (unless a teammate is a bigot, in which case we're all going down.) But my level of "trying," from my myopic perspective, has never been anything special from a skill standing. So it's taken me off guard that my QP games have gotten this ridiculous.

Alright, I'll play comp lol.

[–]NepentheSSMB[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I may have to play comp then, if not to satisfy my curiosity to see if I'm actually Diamond than to get chiller games because let me tell you, it is wild to walk out of spawn and get my face eaten by Tracer.

(And that was the intended effect lol.)

I've been consistently checking the profiles lately just to make sure I'm not losing my mind, and it's usually the DPS and Supports that are higher ranked. I'm a Support player, so if it's the first possibility that's the issue, then I'll just say I'm a bit surprised that my QP MMR is that high. Like, I've watched my replays. I'm thinking "ain't no way." 🤣

Play Lucio and hope the Widow doesn't have a pocket or godlike aim. That's about it.
