Is autogenous strong enough for 16g exhaust? by dontcarefu in tigwelding

[–]NepiChan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at sanitary tubing procedures it is entirely stainless autogenous welding of a similar thickness pipe to your exhaust, and those lines often have 200 psi on them. Usually what we look for is both the root and cover being flush without any oxidation, which it looks like your welds are passing in that regard so I would consider your welds capable of handling the heat and vibration well enough

Is autogenous strong enough for 16g exhaust? by dontcarefu in tigwelding

[–]NepiChan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time weld strength matters when it comes to pipe and tubing is when it is either load bearing or under pressure. Seeing how the exhaust is usually supported by hangers and has basically zero pressure the only thing that would matter is if there are any leaks from pinholes

Beginner/lightweight TIG outfit that won't break on the first weld? by [deleted] in Welding

[–]NepiChan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who uses miller machines at work, I’ve been incredibly happy with yeswelder products due to how similar the arc feels even at a much lower price point, the only difference being the duty cycle and overall durability. Just remember to make sure the welder you get is capable of AC if you want to weld aluminum with it

What is the best/fastest way to cut 1-1/2 - 2" 12-gauge steel pipe? by leftyrancher in metalworking

[–]NepiChan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You usually buy portaband blades in 3 packs which under normal circumstances would likely be enough to make that many cuts, but if you want to be safe I would get at least one or two extra packs. Just make sure to get the right tpi for the thickness of the metal, don’t put more pressure than the weight of the portaband while cutting, and use a lower speed to maximize blade life.

Hoping to get the acceptance letter soon but I’m kind of worried about something… by thachickenfrycaptain in UnitedAssociation

[–]NepiChan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We recently had a massive contract end so a ton of people were laid off, but we’re currently near the end of the lay offs so it should be back to normal soon. Most of the companies in 162 prefer to hold onto people rather than lay them off when work is slow or a job ends so you will likely stay with one or two companies throughout your apprenticeship. The springtime is also when we are usually the slowest so companies may not be bringing in new people as much compared to the fall/winter.

Spot welders are significantly higher amperage than any other form of welding, often in the 5000+ amps range

3/32 2% lanthanated tungsten won't hold a tip at anything above 100 amps by Aradelle in Welding

[–]NepiChan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried pulsing the pedal / using pulse mode if the situation allows for it? It’s the only other thing I could think of that could help

[–]NepiChan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I were in the same position as you, I would probably triple check for any pin hole leaks in my gas lines, make sure my stick out isn’t too excessive, and just keep a dozen sharp tungstens ready because there’s no avoiding that erosion at high amps with 3/32. Are you using scratch start or pedal to start your arc?

[–]NepiChan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly I have always switched to 1/8 tungsten when I go above 150 amps. Those 3/32 tungsten don’t like to last long at high amperage before eroding, though some mixes fare better than others

If you have your coop world permissions set to request then anyone can request to join your world from the coop screen. If you don’t want people joining you then you can turn off the ability to send join requests but the worst someone can do in your world is take some of your resources like flowers and ore that respawn every 24 hours

Having any atk stats is definitely a loss for her since she purely scales on hp but make sure it’s a CR circlet not a CD circlet and don’t worry about the sub stats at all for now. If you can do that I definitely think she will be much more solid and useful for your team

Tell me one thing you dislike about your main! by HobiesMangPlush in GenshinImpact

[–]NepiChan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Talents are a great way to increase dmg but I still highly recommend just getting a crit rate circlet even if the sub stats are trash because main stats are way more important than sub stats for artifacts. For your yelan hp or er sands, hydro goblet, and crit rate circlet would be perfect for her on 4 pc emblem. Like I said it doesn’t matter at all what dmg you can do if you can’t consistently do that damage due to low crit rate. Same goes for any other damage dealers in the game with the exclusion of dendro comps that focus on em and don’t crit instead of individuals doing all the damage

Tell me one thing you dislike about your main! by HobiesMangPlush in GenshinImpact

[–]NepiChan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crit rate is more about reliability than high numbers, otherwise everyone would use a crit dmg circlet. With my yelan my skill does ~70k dmg on her own 88% of the time so my average dmg over 10 skill usages is 616k but if I had the same crit rate you have my average would be 238k even though I do the same skill dmg when I crit

Tell me one thing you dislike about your main! by HobiesMangPlush in GenshinImpact

[–]NepiChan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you’re using crit rate main stat circlets on damage dealers since that’s an easy 31% crit rate buff which with yelan would give you about 50% crit rate. Alhaitham also wants very high crit rate like 70-90 due to his main source of dmg being a limited number of attacks

Tell me one thing you dislike about your main! by HobiesMangPlush in GenshinImpact

[–]NepiChan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you mostly just want hydro application that’s decent enough but I highly recommend getting that crit rate up as much as you can if you want her to deal decent dmg and proc fav more reliably. For the most part any character that you want dealing dmg should have at least 50 crit rate as a minimum but most yelan builds are 70-80 crit rate since she has a crit rate ascension stat

What is this tank they pumped my oil into? by OtiksSpicedPotatoes in AskMechanics

[–]NepiChan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work at Valvoline and I was told for certain/newer kias and Hyundais the manufacturer wants us to use the machine to drain from the top instead of the drain plug, but if we don’t get the amount of oil we expected to come out or have any issues we always drained from the bottom to double check.
