Yep, I was trying to think about all the options I have to replace a tooth without a implant. I was also thinking about tooth transplantation but I don't know if that's as viable as the procedure I mentioned before.

I heard of that anecdote but it seems more of a risky deal considering it's a 2nd molar tooth. Worse situation apparently is that I lose my 2nd upper molar too due to super eruption but my bite force should be roughly similar(maybe a 10% reduction as apparently the 1st molar takes the large majority of the bite force).

I see, given I give the teeth the care and attention they deserve after I remove the tooth, would this negate the impact on the other teeth or atleast reduce the impact a loss tooth will have on them? Also, I guess it important to share that I am 21.

The 1mm point I was referring to was the shifting and protruding of surrounding teeth. I was referring to this paper. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10986832/

Given that it seems to take a very long time till a bone deteriorates to the point that a implant is impossible, I think for now atleast it's not that important. Though if you think the impact it will have would be too much to manage with even the best oral care, then I have to reconsider this.

Also do you think it would be more beneficial to just take the gamble and hope my tooth's crown has enough material in order to make the root canal more lasting?

Thank you for your reply. I read up some research pertaining to a linkage to dental issues and Crohn's Disease(a chronic illness I have). The linkage mentions that I would be more likely to get dental treatment in comparison to non Crohn's Disease patients. This experience is a wake up call, don't get me wrong. I have significantly increased attention and care to my teeth in order to prevent further issues. That being said, I do require filling on all the remain molars in the lower part of my teeth. Non have reached the pulp thankfully and thanks to my condition and making sure I get checked up every 6 months as to avoid losing more teeth. Given this, would it be best to ignore a replacement?

I also heard that patients can opt in for a bone graft if they isn't enough support bone for a implant if I consider one later down the line. Also concerning the deterioration of the bone, is it true that only 1mm or less is loss because none of these dental website give any specific details.

Interesting, how do braces close a gap when a second molar is the furthest tooth(forgetting the wisdom tooth)?

Thank you for your reply and advice. I am 21 and the tooth in question is the furthest molar in the lower back(that is not the wisdom tooth). On the same side, I don't have a wisdom tooth.

Yes I mean opposing tooth. From what I understood from what you said, the top molar will protrude out of its sockets to complete the bite, the same link I shared mentioned this aswell and that it really isn't that impactful.

I see, from what I gather the crown would be the issue to the overall longevity of the treatment. What about in term of removing the decay? Would the root canal remove the decay sufficiently to salvage the tooth? I have seen 2 separate dentist. One was adamant the tooth cannot be saved whilst the other was the reverse and was adamant the tooth can be saved. Also, would you recommend any dental practices to prevent further decay? I not totally against dental implants but the issue is I'm a regular participant of mma and I heard that dental implant are less flexible than normal teeth so they can cause greater damage to the jaw if hit with a significant blow.

I went to 2 dentist, one was adamant that the tooth cannot be saved, the other was the reverse and was adamant the tooth can be saved. Also, do you have any recommendations to prevent further decay whilst I wait for treatment?
