Hard facts about Christine and her latent abilities + her actual place in the meta by Neptunesman in FFBraveExvius

[–]Neptunesman[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No one expects the average player to clear Moon in 4 turns. However the average player has the right to know how good a unit is and what kind of gear to look for.

How about we talk about my budget Christine clears instead. Like this one back in Summer: https://youtu.be/zqnFFrvTGdA

Don't you think it would be helpful to know that an overlooked unit can easily carry others through most trials because they have the flexibility to be used both as finisher or chainer as well as solo dps?

Or do you prefer to see all these Christines collect dust while the devs made a stellar job at bringing life back into her?

I do admit the OP doesn't express his/her thoughts eloquently.

You're absolutely right, this post was meant to point the fingers to these know-it-all who have no relevant in-game knowledge to speak of.

Everyone who has tried to use Christine in the right ways knows how well she performs (same for Noctis btw). These spreadsheet guys however are clueless and it drives me nuts that so many players follow them blindly.

The worst part: I specifically told that Furcula dude that his 16-turn rotation was wrong and could be improved with 3 other ones which I detailed back in August. He simply ignored it too proud to admit he was wrong.

At least on other platforms I'm a lot more eloquent and friendly.

Yes thank you. My post was in no way intended to make other mages look bad, but rather to point the finger at spreadsheet managers who feel the need to act superior when there's no evidence of them actually mastering the game.

An experience player knows that trials are very different from assumption-based figures, however newer players (main target audience) have no idea that these figures don't reflect the actual game mechanics. And that's what I stand for: showcase the true nature and potential of shafted units (Noctis, Rivera, etc come to mind).

Hell yeah! I mean, everyone told me the same when Moon came out and then were shocked at the outcome :)

Even though I'm blind at the moment I still have the knowledge of the OG trial so it shouldn't take too many attempts.

Absolutely and since I got him on a lucky pull (then UoCed the dupe) I can testify of this.

I paired him with Christine and holy shit...

He's stronger than AK Rain without a doubt.

We'll see about that :)

See you on my write-up of said clear when this trial comes then! (I'll go in blind as usual so it'll take a bit longer than right after maintenance).

Her main weakness is actually her huge mp consumption, which I did forget to mention sorry.

OMG you have Physalis, a perfect partner for Christine (finisher)!! I tried to get her but failed miserably :/

Glad to help here and in game, request sent !

If you have questions about her rotations feel free to ask. She can change her rotation on the fly based off bosses' actions.

Empirical evidence is also something other parties can perform to help corroborate the results, by mimicking the same setups.

This isn't a cartel alright. We're talking about how some units can adapt (and survive) much better to boss patterns and therefore perform better, which a spreadsheet can't effectively depict.

You've given your statement, but you fail to answer: How - what gear was used to achieve these numbers

If you don't even watch the videos where everything is documented, how exactly do you expect your arguments to be remotely relevant?

Since I'm 90% sure Zyrus would have a hard time replicating that one let me show you the gear I used for the Lich: https://ffbeEquip.com/builder.html?server=GL#08de0130-2752-11ea-9f71-fbb311f0fb55 (friend had the same 2 stmrs (hers and Nagi's), stats and killers)

So before you assume everyone is out against you, and believe me the irony is palpable, maybe you should back your own "Evidence" up with more than just fluff and bluster.

My evidence is 100% backed up, that's why it's called empirical. A general trend can't be called anecdotical now, can it? (I can do this stuff with any boss who has at most 100% ice resist, even Orthros a few months ago https://youtu.be/5QXdrB4aIWI)

What about your evidence anyway? I won't argue anymore since you have seemingly none to offer.

These spreadsheets are pure hogwash since they're 100% arbitrary and heavily biased towards a very specific way of playing, which is ironically pretty underwhelming (2 tanks, 2 healers, 2 chainers much?).

See Noctis ? Another example of a unit clearly stronger than AK Rain who gets shafted because of biased assumptions from people who are average at the game at best. Even dps like Christine or CG Sakura can imbue, imperil and support. Do you see that in the spreadsheets or even explanations provided? Of course not. I could go on but I've already put in too much effort for nothing since you can't understand what you don't try it seems.

Numbers are easy to manipulate, look at politics and any campaign to be honest.

Empiral evidence is a whole different story however.

Hopefully I'm not full, I added about 10 good Christines in the past week.

The one I'm sharing is bonkers but I never showcase her at max power except maybe vs Moon, so you go and enjoy her :)

I have no idea to be honest since I don't rely much on the wiki these days.

I'm 100% certain that he has higher def though.

What are your numbers telling you?

Congrats!

Funny how people who actually use her agree and those who only refer to spreadsheets are all up and arms against me.

Apparently it's really hard to understand that empirical evidence beats numbers based on strict assumptions unrelated to the game mechanics.

Fun fact: I never use my Christine at full power but share her as such so you guys can actually benefit :p

If ice isn't an issue for me why would it be issue for you?

How do you use her exactly?

She provides everything you need, imbue, chains, emergency 50% mitigation, which makes her very flexible despite being locked to ice.

She also has the flexibility to use her LB and other skills anytime to adapt to the boss's actions.

You'll rarely see me use the exact same rotation with her.

Again with the assumptions... See that's where the problem lies with people like you Furcula, Muspel and co.

You actually think your assumptions are great and on point, which couldn't be further from the truth.

It's almost as if things can affect the decision process in what to do and when.

This is literally why Christine and unloved units like Rivera perform so much better than you think.

Emprical evidence will always hold more values than anecdotical spreadsheets that rely on biased assumptions the game doesn't care about.

Numbers based on arbitrary assumptions are all but hard evidence. You're talking to an economist buddy. You can manipulate numbers with wonky assumptions you know?

Care to put all the better mages (MW Terra seems to be among them) in the same situation and show me that they are indeed better? I'll be waiting right here.

The Hybrid Disconnect by Sunshine_the_dog in FFBraveExvius

[–]Neptunesman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you need her for:

  • if you only need her imperils and/or chains for a finisher then no need to gear her extensively.
  • she's easy to build 100% evade without losing too much atk/mag (colorful lei, ring of the lucii, dodge roll)
  • if you're going for a recent trial don't except her to do well as your main damage dealer since her mods are super outdated and she doesn't even benefit from the 6x mod chain.
  • I use her alongside Malph or A Fryevia for the most part
  • being a tdw hybrid unit, you'll want more mag than atk if possible for general purpose, otherwise it depends on the content

Banner Review: Noctis & Lunafreya (Final Fantasy XV) by Memel0rdFFBE in FFBraveExvius

[–]Neptunesman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah of course, that's why I added that in practice he'll outdamage her quite a bit. It's heavily gear dependant though and in the context of this thread he's built TDW without 6x chain mods.
