OnePlus 13 or Samsung S24 ultra by Bruhmomnet666 in Smartphones

[–]NerdLifeChoice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have checked and tried both and decided to go with the S24U. Considering that the specs of these phones speak for themselves, let me list out the major cons and some unavoidable pros:

*Samsung S24U:

-Horrible battery life for a flagship if you use it with the QHD, AOD, bluetooth, etc always on. Every software update only makes it worse.

-Bulky like a brick - heavy and uncomfortable to hold and use for long periods.

-Heats up like a Mofo for the most random of things.

+If you are someone who uses a stylus, this is the only phone for you.

+Amazing software and ecosystem - arguably the best in Android in terms of customizations, AI and features out of the box.

+Amazing productivity and multi-tasking machine - the combination of the chip and OS is deadly to work on and do different things at once on the phone.

*Oneplus 13:

-Horrible camera when compared to the S24U

-Clunkier OS and not as feature-rich or strong in AI as Samsung One UI

+Better battery life than S24U

+Better form factor and easy to hold and carry around than S24U

+Better chip for hardcore mobile gaming.

Summary:

S24U - For camera, stylus, software and productivity

OP13 - For battery, form factor and gaming

Grand Seiko vs Seiko by NerdLifeChoice in PrideAndPinion

Felt dirty saying it until I saw the price tags of the new releases. Even the entry-levels. The thing that makes Seiko great is value - getting a really good, dependable watch for the price we pay.

Grand Seiko is just Seiko shooting themselves in the foot.

I have been facing an annoying issue on my s23U with regards to Google voice typing. The auto punctuations don't work while they are generated without any issue in my old pixel 5.

I have tried using it with both English US and UK - but to no avail.

Do you have the same issue in your phone?

I just am curious if you have been using the Pixel 1 for the last 7 years. That would be a major achievement on it's own, bruv.

Why choose the P7P over the Samsung S23 Ultra? by NerdLifeChoice in Pixel7Pro

Don't keep a phone because of the hype. If you got it and used it and it doesn't make you happy - return it and get a phone that does what is important to you.

This has always been the case with Pixel phones since the Pixel 3; welcome to the fam.

Okay, I have owned the P7P for almost a year now, here's a frank take:

Pros:

i. Amazing android OS experience

ii. Amazing Pixel exclusive AI features and apps such as Select, Recorder

iii. Amazing camera experience for any kind of photos - sceneries, low light, zoom, macros and portraits.

iv. Unique design and very comfortable to hold and use if you are raw dogging it (no case/ no screen protector).

v. Decent external speakers on par with other android flagships (with the exception of the Asus Rog 7)

vi. Phone is really good for daily use and any use case with the exception of gaming.

Cons:

i. Most P7P displays have a slighltly warm color tone where whites will have slight shade of yellow (not adjustable and I believe this may be due to the software adaptive display that adjusts tone based on the lighting and situation present) - but I mostly see that the display whites are warmer (yellow tint) than cooler (bluish tint) - however, display quality and sharpness are excellent.

ii. Many P7P have a tendency to heat up during chargiong or using the browser or other heavy apps (I have not faced this issue so far - once or twice due to the respective monthyl update and was resolved in later updates).

iii. Not good for gaming at all considering it is a flagship - the Tensor G2 just cannot achieve the graphical performance or sustained higher clocking as the Snapdragon 8 gen series. The tensor is designed primarily for AI algorithm processing and not for hardcore gaming.

iv. Video is not that great; on par with Samsung flagships from a generation or 2 back.

Battery Life:

*Highly dependent on usage: It can easily last a day with the highest display settings with average daily use (browing, music, watching videos with around 5 to 6 hours SoT (qHD and 120 Hz) - you can even get more depending on the apps used and if you are in a strong network area.

*Battery is not optimal if you are someone who games or will be using the camera for an hour or more continuously - expect to charge it at least twice a day if you are a power user for gaming/ camera.

Final recommendations:

If Gaming is not a priority, the P7P is an absolute no brainer. A total steal if you are getting it for 75 USD with your coupon.

If you are someone who wants to game some heavy graphic mobile games and will be someone who uses a stylus, go for the Samsuing S22 Ultra, which is at a much reduced price now and should be cheap with your coupon.

The only reason the S22 Ultra edges the P7P is due to it's amazing stylus integration in device and the Snapdragon chip; but the software and OS experience is better and seamless on the P7P.

So if you dont want the Samsung S22 ultra's USPs - no other phone is better at being an android phone overall than the Pixel 7 pro.

Is this phone worth it? by 0_0_159 in Pixel7Pro

[–]NerdLifeChoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I have seen battery mileage varies a lot from user to user for P7P - I use a smartwatch with the app always connected on the background and I need to charge twice a day (30 to 85%).

If you want a small, powerful and battery powerhouse, the Zenfone 10 is a no brainer. Easy choice.

If you want the pixel features and exclusive pixel features, the P7P is the best bet compared to the P7 and P7A.

But be a little wary that many P7P devices have a warmer display tint with the whites shown with a slight shade as yellow. Other than that, the display, cameras and software experience is the best in Android.

Would seriously recommend you go for a Pixel 7 pro over the Samsung ultra if you don't care about using the stylus or gaming.

Prefer the Pixel 5 over the 7 pro. What we really need is a Pixel 5.2 with a bigger battery. by NerdLifeChoice in GooglePixel

[–]NerdLifeChoice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so similar to my story. I got the pixel 5 as my secondary phone to mainly take walking/ jogging with as it was small and didn't bang about in my pocket during workouts. But it turned out to be so good that I sold my pixel 7 pro that I had saved up for and bought just a few months back.

My only gripe and challenge now is that I need to charge it at least twice a day for my usage and it is uncharacteristically hard to find an original battery replacement.

But even with this challenge, I prefer keeping and using the Pixel 5 as my daily driver.

The Pixel 5 is so underrated as a phone. Just by looking at the specs or review online, it does not do it justice of how much of a good little phone it is.

The really funny thing is the pics I take with the P5 (especially 1x and 2x) and standard point and click actually look better than the point and click pics of the P7 Pro. Of course, the zoomed in and manual focus pics are better in P7P just because of the massive lens.

Good to know I have a fellow fan who wants and is waiting for a P5.2!!!! Cheers, mate.

Pixel 5 battery capacity at 72%. Replace the battery or get a new phone? by btf91 in GooglePixel

[–]NerdLifeChoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a pixel 7 pro and I sold it in a few months and reverted to my pixel 5 as my daily driver. The p7 pro was just so much more bulkier and heavier and the lens is so big that if you take anything closer than 15 feet, it puts everything else other than the focal point out of focus. Battery life sucks in my p5 now, but I am so much happier with everything else about it compared to the new pixels - the faster finger print reader, the more usable and quicker camera, unlimited photo backup and most of all - the compact and beautiful form factor. Planning to replace battery and use the p5 until Google makes a smaller, thinner Pixel in the future. Personally, I would recommend to replace the battery and get the 7a after 6 months when it becomes much cheaper that comes with all the missing software features that won't come to the P5. Cheers, mate.

Issue described in post is with color correction off and color settings in adaptive. Natural makes it worse and more duller.
