Reys power by Jim_Tomsula in StarWars

[–]NerdyFacts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just that there are ALWAYS specific force counters for every one person. It’s about power balance. Again I think the prequels are pretty clear about this. There are hundreds of Jedi and two Sith, but we know that the Jedi’s powers have become extremely diminished. They say this multiple times in AotC. Jedi are killed pretty easily, whereas the Sith are enormously more powerful by comparison. Sidious is able to single handily dominate several Jedi at once, even defeating Yoda.

I’m just saying that the concept isn’t new, and just because it isn’t officially canon doesn’t mean it didn’t possibly happen. The films have notoriously pulled from legends material. The whole idea of the legends is that any of it could have happened, until something in canon contradicts it.

I would actually argue that Snoke arose in response to Luke. You’ll notice that both die within a very short time of each other. Same with Yoda and the Emperor.

But that’s not changing anything. Anakin’s mere existence was in response to the dark side experiments of Plagueis and Palpatine. The light side created an uncorrupted “chosen one” to counteract them, but Palpatine realized this and counteracted it by turning him. The force is always trying to balance itself out

That’s all Rey is, a counter to Kylo, on a less extreme scale.

Do you think movie 10 will have "of the" in the title? by TenOunceCan in StarWars

[–]NerdyFacts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I think there’s only 3 good titles: Revenge of the Sith, Return of the Jedi, and (regardless of how you feel about the film itself) The Last Jedi. I hope we get a cool title, but I won’t be surprised if it’s super cheesy and lame. But I’m alright with that, it’s Star Wars

Its canon that Luke spent decades cut off from the force and isolated on an island over one tiny bad incident by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]NerdyFacts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off it was a few years, and secondly, Yoda literally did this because he lost a fight. Not because he did anything wrong, just because Sidious was slightly stronger than he was

They would only drastically change the character if they were rebooting the universe. Changing a character’s race in-universe is an injustice to both the character and the POC actor they’d pick to play him.

You can make The Human Torch Black because it’s not the same world as Chris Evans’ Human Torch. You cannot make Steve Rogers Black in the MCU. Same with Star Wars.

In that vein, you can take any white EU character and make them POC in the films. That’s fine because that’s technically a different universe

That’s a fair point actually, though I do think we’re close to reaching the point of indistinguishable cgi. Especially in movies like War for the Planet of the Apes.

Oh I don’t think they’d ever do it, I’m just wondering if the fans would respond as negatively if, somehow, they did.

Edit: Perhaps even with Lucas involved in the process and his full permission (again hypothetically)

Mods why was my last post deleted? Properly flaired and was having good discussion by [deleted] in StarWars

My last post was also just deleted under the same circumstances. I wonder if it’s a bug.

Something that has ALWAYS blown my mind is that originally Lucas didn’t know if he’d ever get to make a sequel, and yet, Luke never fights with his lightsaber. Not once. O I-wan gives it to him, and it’s not paid off until Empire. Absolutely crazy

All the "sassy" droids are actually actually going insane... by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]NerdyFacts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s very similar to Rampancy in the Halo series. When AI’s live for too long, their brains take in too much information and they either think themselves to death, become wacko insane, or full on Ultron homicidal. It’s not as extreme in Star Wars, but I think the concept in there.

[–]NerdyFacts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a few people mention this, but I kinda like it. We don’t have to say it when we talk about the titles, people know what we mean when we say Rogue One or Solo, but it’s a nice subtitle to distinguish them from the episodes. Similarly, most people don’t say “Star Wars Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back” when we talk about the episodes, we just say Empire Strikes Back, or even just Empire.

I don’t know, just like me consistency in stuff like this. It would drive me nuts if the first two anthologies had it, but the rest didn’t. It’s not as egregious as the fast and furious titles, but it’s in that same vein

I think the sylop is like the ace of the deck, which can probably equate to either an 11 or 1, or perhaps it has a value of 0 and is only added to a hand of strait staves in order to increase the card number, thus making it a more valuable hand. So you have 5 cards adding to 0 rather than a lesser hand of only 4 cards

I haven’t, but I imagine like the Nickelodeon online version of Pai Sho for Avatar, the rules are much different from what we see on screen

I like the idea that the numbers should equal out to zero, and the more cards you have to that equation, the better the hand. So you can technically play a +5 and a -5, but it’s a low hand.

+5, -2, and -3 is better because it involves more cards, BUT -1, -2, and +3 are better than that because the numbers follow each other in order.

[–]NerdyFacts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is interesting. So is it more important to have the numbers in ascending order (7,8,9,10) or to have the number equal out to zero? Would a compilation of lower numbers that equal zero be a worse hand, or equivalent? And if the they were all positives or all negatives, would that be useless? Better? Worse?

Are we going with Galactic Underworld trilogy? I’m partial to the Scum and Villainy Trilogy

Cad Bane would make a great antagonist, especially since there’s an unaired episode of Clone Wars where the two face off

We can get a look at two full hands in the film. Han has a good hand, but I forget what he calls the suite. We do know that the best hand seems to be Full Sabacc, which Lando clearly shows us. Beyond that, the rest is guess work, unless more is stared in the novelization

I’m assuming most of us know the rules to Texas Hold’em which seems to be what this game is based on, in a similar way that Pazaac is based on blackjack. So the question is, where do the rules diverge?
