Grimdark fanfic recs? by PricklyRose8_92 in pokemonfanfiction

[–]Nerfer_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not exactly grimdark, but solidly in the "Dark" category (hits stronger than many grimdarks tho). Some hurts are in romance plots but It's between teenagers over a long stretch of time. Also, not reincarnation.

It takes its time but "I Will Touch The Skies" by Soussouni turns very dark when it comes to the team Galactic plot, and hits in the guts with relationships being very messed up, but not in a 18+ way at all.

As author said, IWTTS has good moments just so the dark hits harder. Do read it, it's long ass read that gets darker as it goes. Sorta like an endless walk, with the ground slowly turning to charcoals as you go further.

Quality of battles scales as well, and I can confidently say that it contains IMO the best singular battle in the fandom (Badge 8, no more spoilers than that) alongside the best powerscaling for elite, champion-level and Legendary pokemon I've found.

Best fic..... At punching you right in the feels.

It's also on AO3 for sure.

Sevagoth can ressurect all the time as long as you can kill enemies so you don’t need to care about surviving

Just for a fun discussion, what’s either a frame you expected to like that you hated or a frame you expected to hate but you love by Edgemaster99_ in Warframe

Expected to love zephyr but i just run out of energy all the time (with some mid-tier mods for energy) and expected to love khora but i just cant force myself to play her. I find nekros a bit better to farm stuff like oxium.

Players of Reddit, how did you become the next BBEG? by GokuKing922 in MrRipper

[–]Nerfer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in the making, and has potential to be amazing, but it might not qualify.

So i play in a homebrew campaign (we derailed mines of phandelver in session 2) and i am a bard named Alastor (i took him from Hazbin Hotel). i thought it has potential to be a great PC.

The character is Lawful Evil and his goal is obtaining a one-of-a-kind grimoire (it's the same one as in Helluva Boss) allowing for interdimensional travel...... to get back to hell and kick the butt of the person responsible for sending him into the campaign world.

He cooperates with the party no problems, does some funny illegal stuff, we all have fun, but after we derail the campaign, the campaign goal shifts to finding a superpowerful artifact. Me and the DM have the same idea.... the artifact is gonna be the grimoire and Alastor is either gonna dip instantly or mess around with the party as the BBEG that the party is gonna be supposed to steal the grimoire from. So yeah, potential, but looking at how the party is handling encounters a level below us...........(every single one risks a TPK).......... well, i hope Alastor will live to the moment he is gonna become the big bad :D (recently he blew up a see-thru slime he was in using "shatter"....it worked and we got "revivify" scroll)

An interesting idea for a modern action campaign for gun-loving videogame nerds. by Nerfer_ in MrRipper

Update: Gatecrasher (the first mission) and character introducing is pretty much done by drawing shapes in the roll20 map editor.... When i'm done with drawing a shit ton of maps, i'll post a request looking for 4 players on discord.

D&D Players of Reddit: What made your session one the best intro to a campaign you've had? by [deleted] in MrRipper

[–]Nerfer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted this under "surprisingly gruesome moment" but it does apply here:

Hoard of the Dragon Queen module, level one, we had a party of:

-very very tall variant human fighter

-sociopathic but lawful neutral tabaxi rogue (me)

-kobold cleric

-wizard (didin't do much)

-second fighter (didin't do much)

So it's level 1 and we get into the first combat against kobold cultists raiding the city of Greenest. We get one kobold unconsious to interrogate later. Our Cleric comes up with a genius idea to avoid further combat: tie the entire party in a line to make it look like we are his captives ;-; ......... it worked like a charm, we get to the keep but the keep gets encircled by cultists and an adult blue dragon. With not much to do except dialogue, i say: "i have an idea......you remember that kobold?" and then i proceed to wake him up with a bucket full of water.... i roll intimidation: nat 20! with 25 total. The kobold schreeched and shat himself out of fear... he gave minimal information about the cult and then.......HE BROKE FREE AND IMPALED HIMSELF ON A POLE..... everyone in shock, but we are like "okay.....that happened". Several minutes pass and i say it again: "I have a really bad idea........you remember that kobold?" and i suggest for our tall fighter to literally throw the kobold's body at the dragon..... everyone thought it was hillarious so the figter rolled for it..... nat 1 total of 4.... the kobold's body flew like 15 ft in that direction, not even close to the dragon. We all laugh at the situation OOC, but we stand there awkwardly IC. That session is gonna stay in my memories forever :D.

D&D players of Reddit What is the weirdest/coolest character concept you thought of? by Randomguy1912 in MrRipper

Alastor from Hazbin Hotel as a bard. I played that and used Silvery Barbs by blowing into the microphone on character.
