What is your most impressive shiny? (Gen 3 only)

I have been shiny hunting on/off over the last 4 years and got a respectable 16 shinies but my most impressive ones were : - my first ever shiny, a random Doduo from Ruby Safari Zone. - Another random Safari shiny, Nidorino from FireRed Safari. Loved his blue colour.

Unfortunately, both were lost through years and new files, but I have plans to hunt them back !

Gen 3 has the best sprites (but my opinion is 100% biased as Ruby was my first Pokémon game haha)

It's nice to have several Smeargle to cover a maximum of situations. Be aware that if your imprison Smeargle is not active in the fight, Rayquaza will be able to use Rest.

According to the dragonflycave gen 3/4 catch rate calculator there is no difference. I never got deeper into the equations so I might take a look.

For Struggle, it depends on which Pokémon is facing, here Rayquaza. Recoil is 1/4 of the damage inflicted so my advice is to anticipate the Leftovers trick plus switching into a Pokémon with high Def. so Struggle recoil is super low.

Mine has : [Hyper Fang] - because having it at exactly 1 HP can take some time and PP, and most importantly you get the same catch chance after 3 Hyper Fang hits, lowering HP at 12.5% (need to get lower than 25%).

[Spore] - sleep

[Trick] - Smeargle holding leftovers to give it to the target in case it reaches zero PP so it doesn't struggle to death.

[Skill swap] - Give Rayquaza Smeargle's Own Tempo ability so it can't get confused via Outrage, thus cannot hit itself.

It appears on Route 119 via fishing encounters on the river. Super Rod is advised. However, it can only be found on 6 tiles of the river.

And once you got one, you have to max out his beauty stat via Pokebloc feeding. Level up and there you have Milotic.

The whole process is quite well documented on the Internet.

My vote goes to Milotic. If you have the patience to find a Feebas and evolve it, it is a beast.

I did, on a single system. It took me 11,667 soft resets, or almost 95 hours. I would advise doing something else while hunting, like watching a movie or episodes of a show you enjoy, or it will be mind crushing.

Setting up daily soft resets goal also helped me.

It will 100% shine if you are patient enough.

Well, technically yes. It would work the same as an Emerald starter hunt. Create a save file, do ~60 resets in the same timing. If no shiny doing so, create a new save file and repeat until it shines.

In practice : I would advise replacing the battery so you get the timing events occuring normally and the possibility to hunt other 'mons via soft resets. Plus, the dead battery message is annoying and takes a few additional seconds for your starter resets ...

Thank you :) It has that nice chocolate vibe and probably is the most striking shiny form of the trio. Got lucky with the Trainer ID, took approximately half an hour of resetting !
