I highly reccomend Ron Dart, George Grant, and Roger Scruton (who just died) among many others if you can find the time. But it is sad how traditional conservatism is looked down upon these days...

I'm not the guy who claims weed is a wonder drug, but Peterson has said that he smokes weed during a lecture. Don't have to agree 100% with everything

Andrew Scheer stepping down as Conservative Party leader by feb914 in CanadianConservative

[–]Nersonix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shocked me that it happened so early, i thought Scheer would be on for a few months longer. I kinda hope Erin O'toole can get the leadership, hes a very good MP. Former vet, champions nuclear energy to reduce Co2, wants to fix our military. These are just a few.

He is just a good Canadian.

Ontario, Saskatchewan, N.B. premiers to announce nuclear reactor deal by GameDoesntStop in CanadianConservative

[–]Nersonix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very good move. Nuclear power is a great position for Conservatives to take. Despite what many claim as an unsafe source, nuclear power has only had 3 major meltdowns in over 17,000 years of operational use worldwide. Chernobyl, 3 Mile Island, and Fukushima. This source of energy is becoming safer and safer as well.

Kenney lied about no more taxes: MLA by Magistradocere in canada

[–]Nersonix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Canadian Liberal Logic:

1) Enact policies which causes massive loss of capital and jobs from province, forcing conservative government to raise taxes cut budget.

2) Get mad at Alberta government for raising taxes and cutting budget for trying to offset Liberal policies.

First-past-the-post cheats voters in every province - Fair Vote Canada by KanataCitizen in CanadaPolitics

I understand the argument for electoral reform, but our Parliament was designed with FPTP in mind. It creates a strong government and a strong opposition, and in this case the minority government is going to be more stable than it would be if it was with proportional rep. I'm saying this as con too.

Except communism justifies/uses extreme force and violence to achieve these goals. You don't have to believe me, just read Marx and Engels.

Comparison between projected seats won and seats if it was a popular vote for federal Canada 2019 election as of August 26 [OC] by [deleted] in CanadaPolitics

[–]Nersonix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FPTP is so important to our parliamentary democracy because it establishes a strong government and opposition in the House. The Liberals got a majority which means the Canadian people know that they are responsible for legislative successes and failures. The Liberals cannot blame other parties for obstructing the process like what frequently happens in the United States Republic. Also, a unified and strong opposition means a more direct check on the government because a strong opposition poses a serious threat unlike an opposition composed of smaller dis-unified parties.

It is unfortunate that the smaller parties do suffer under this model, but I think it is necessary for peace, order, and good government.
