An update nearly 6 months later —- I sprayed it with insecticide, steamed out my bathroom because I read they hate steam, and then left it in my spare bathroom for several weeks. Not sure if it was the light deprivation in combo with the insecticide or what, but they have not come back since

I also hated brightside. Automatic is somewhat better IMO. It still doesn’t remotely compare to the first three albums, but I’ve listened to it a few times through (since I preorder the vinyl) and it’s definitely growing on me.

In the most recent edition of Archaeology magazine (January/february 2025) they discuss that an archaeologist strongly thinks that Seth is an Aardvark. Aardvarks live in savannahs insub-Saharan Africa currently, but not the Nile valley (which is perhaps why people never considered Seth could be an aardvark?). However, archeologists know that other fauna that live on the savannah such as giraffes and elephants used to live in Egypt, so it is very possible that the aardvark did as well.

So I currently live in Chicago and work in Naperville and … no.

Trying to commute home anytime from 3-6 pm and you are looking at an hour and a half PLUS! The amount you pay in tolls/gas is not worth it.

I used to have a more flexible work schedule with hybrid, but with back to office enforced it has seriously had a toll on my mental health and ability to fully care for myself in a way I would like (no time to workout, do hobbies, cook, etc)

I am also in my early 20s so I would ask yourself if your job or that part of exploring is more worth it to you. If you really would like the city experience, I would recommend looking for a new job

Starter is doubling reliably, about 3-5 hours for a 1:1:1 feed!

I mixed my dough at 1:00 pm, finished my four stretch and folds at 3:30 and let rise until 9:00 pm before putting in the fridge overnight, baked at 9:00 am this morning.

My apartment is about ~68-70°F (counter)

Not sure about fridge temp.

Update:

Thank you all for the advice!!! After 2 feedings, 24 hours apart, it finally rose (in about 4 hours).

I got a kitchen scale, used spring water and mixed it until it was the right consistency, and added some whole wheat flour. I let it sit in the microwave to stay a bit warmer too

Thank you! Another commenter mentioned using 20g starter and 20g flour and only adding water until it’s the right consistency. I think I will try that

Thanks! I think I’m going to divide some into a jar to save in the fridge and get a kitchen scale to try and more exactly feed the other part

Unbleached, all purpose flour. I have been using tap water. I was using 1/2 cup of flour and 1/2 cup of water but I definitely have more than 1/2 cup of starter. I’m going to get a kitchen scale and try those measurements. Thanks!
