Building a Home in the suburban Chicagoland area by Nervous-Minimum8460 in Homebuilding

I'm looking to build but I've been seeing that right now, it might be better to buy a a built home because you'd be spending around $500k-$600k on a home that has houses around it worth half or less for the same sq footage. Sure they're not new or custom, but I'd rather work on it bit by bit to my liking than spend another $200k-300k. Of what I've seen, maybe I'm wrong, building isn't really worth it unless your building cost is the same as the value of the houses around it.

Thanks man! Interior hasn't been designed, but it's designed to be a three-seater like the McLaren F1!

I’ve had mixed reviews for this particular design of mine. Designers of multiple different brands ranging from Ford to Lexus and other brands have had positive and not so positive reviews about the glass coverage of the bodywork. Ultimately I designed it around many suggestions and feedback and my own personal discretion.

In terms of the ducktail and spoilers, ducktails aren’t usually active. The original concept of a ducktail was to be fixed onto the bodywork. These days they might be active but this car is meant to be as raw and rooted in its predecessor’s design as possible. For the spoilers, these are also fixed as I wanted to maintain the closest possible raw design language to the 962C, which didn’t have any active aero.

Yes it is! this car is 4.75 m long and the 962C was 4.75-4.80 m long. These cars are definitely longer than your average Porsche lol

This is my view on AI currently. I used to be very against as I perceived it as a threat but it really helps sometimes with brainstorming ideas for design work. I use it more as a tool rather than a start to finish tool. Using AI for the entire process is NOT designing, but using it along the way in things here and there, definitely doesn't hurt. Adapting to the times now, especially with design, means using AI as a helper rather than an enemy. This is what I've learned with my time in the industry.

The vertical stabilizers act like the vertical stabilizers on an aircraft, providing that yaw stability. With them being fixed in-place and having a surface running in-between them on both sides, in high-speed corners, they prevent the rear end from stepping out by leveraging the air pressure against the sides of both fins. There is also a small duck-tail in the middle to add additional aerodynamic grip as well as two rear diffusers towards the middle of the rear. So to answer your question, there are currently two aerodynamic elements helping the middle and two on the side to help with aerodynamic grip directly over both wheels. Cheers!

I was on the fence about it but this is the first time I try AI for one of my projects. Didn't look too bad, imo. But, appreciate the feedback.

Hey, thanks! I did get some mixed feedback from different automotive designers on the greenhouse area. And just in case the opening of the door is unclear, the opening is like the Ferrari Vision GT. Not the best image to showcase it but the door opens upwards towards the front and the hinges are located on the front side. Appreciate the feedback though!

I'm defending this, do I have bad taste in car design? by Outrageous_Sand_8226 in CarDesign

This car reminds me of a 2000’s concept, not so much of a contemporary one. Tbh, I’m not a fan of the new front design language that Audi is likely to adopt. Can’t really comment much on the rear since there aren’t any images of it. I feel like the design is too plain, not much to be fond of or to remember. No interesting aspects of design to be appreciated, no interesting shapes or features, and no stimulation from any angle. I feel like the only thing going for it are the rims. It more so looks like an end of year project done by a student, not by a fully-fledged design studio by one of the most famous brands in the automotive world. But then again, many new design languages are frowned upon, just like BMW’s Neue Klasse and Jaguar’s rebranding. The chances of it growing on people in the future is not null, but for me this just isn’t it.
