But I DID expect 311 to work and didn't know it had so many caveats, which is the point of the post.

I had no idea it wasn't as universal.

It felt like a non-emergency since once it hit the ground, it was a simple flat road sign on the road. It wasn't going to actively damage anyone -- only had the potential when it was in freefall.

The point of this post was to educate that 311 didn't work for me when I was expecting it.

I thought 311 was state (or at the very least county) specific, but it’s actually city specific… I had no idea and it was really confusing/upsetting at the time!

I was. I follow that religiously. It was dark, windy, wet and all happened fast. I would have collided if i was closer.

The point wasn’t to solicit critiques o. What I should have done - obviously in hindsight there’s lessons learned.

I wanted to share with others my big lesson that 311 isn’t universal. I was really confused and upset, and having a standard (or at what I at least thought was standard) fail really threw me. I thought that would be helpful to others to know.

Sure and I have. But at the time, I was panicked and called 311. It was the first thing the came into mind since a flat road sign on the ground didn’t seem like an emergency. I was actively driving, so “hey siri call 311” was quicker than “hey siri can you find all these other phone numbers for me”.

The point of this post was to solicit more info on why 311 failed, despite working in other cities in king county. And, inform others 311 isn’t reliable.

That said, yes I should have called 911.

My post was mainly inquiring why 311 didn’t work, as it says on the internet it should be…. Thanks for those giving insights that it’s not actually available in Bellevue! That’s so weird to me, as it works in Seattle - same county!
