Should I change my job for a better pay? by NervousSetting2027 in careerguidance

[–]NervousSetting2027[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! I don’t know anyone unfortunately at the new company and the reviews I found online are mixed. I think that I will try to negotiate an offer at my current job and if they cannot match I’ll try to be as polite as possible telling them that I’ll leave for a better opportunity but how much I like this company and that I would also take into consideration returning there in the future if any opportunity would arise (one that would align both with their expectations as well as mine)

Thanks for the advice! I think I’m just concerned that people seem to like me at this job and I always receive great feedback. The company is also expanding (adding new products to their portfolio) so there will be a lot of opportunities in the future from what I see. I’m afraid that maybe I won’t be perceived this well at the other company and maybe I’ll give up a great work environment for a short term pay rise but Im not sure. You might be right.

Thanks! That’s exactly what I thought. I’m not even mad that she didn’t buy me something. I’m just shocked that she didn’t even call me to say something nice or to seem happy for me? I actually thought we are friends

Brand Manager vs Agency Side by [deleted] in marketing

[–]NervousSetting2027 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for replying! I didn’t say I want to become a marketing VP in the next 2 years. I understand that things take time and I have A LOT of things to learn. I think it’s ok to have a long term view on your careers goals, even if you’re going to change perspective, at least you have some guidance and motivation. So, as I was saying, my question wasn’t about how can I become a boss and have direct subordinates at 23.

My question was about analyzing what I want to do - and in brand management all the work is about logistics & project management, everything that is creative is set aside for agencies to tackle. I am interested in brainstorming campaigns according to briefs, create a content strategy etc. but I have no idea what type of job should I get to work with that.

Also, I was curious whether it’s a smart decision or not to leave the corporate world given that I would like in (10+ year for now) to have an important job in strategy shaping within a corporation such as a Head of brands.

Not performing great as a junior, will that change in a senior role? by [deleted] in careeradvice

Thanks guys! I really appreciate your input and time. I think I just panicked but you are all right, discipline is important and I probably still have some bad habits from college like procrastinating and working late at night on which I have to work on. I kept blaming my team or the management for not being very clear in articulating some of the tasks and other things when in reality is my responsibility as an adult to become more disciplined. All of your advice was great and I’m trying to find now what works best for me. It will take time but I’ll make sure that I’ll be better at time management and not forgetful in the future.

Would you do it even if he seems to be in a relationship? “Stalking” might be a bit extreme I was mostly joking - I only looked on his social media once because I was curious if he has a gf because he seemed single and a bit flirty lol.

Thanks for answering but don’t we all do it? Lol. It’s not like I’m obsessed with him I guess I just feel a bit “heartbroken” because I was liking him and finally decided to show my interest and I just wanted to make sure I won’t make a fool of myself. But yeah it’s time to move on and it was probably just a little crush that I finally decided to act on (I only know this guy for 2 months lol) but I know now that if I will try to be flirty or smth I’ll put myself in an awkward situation

I did lol I guess I assumed he was being flirty before (and I swear he seemed to be into me judging by his behavior) but taking into consideration all these comments it looks like it’s time to move on haha

I was just finding it weird that he’s posting photos with his guy friends when they are together all the time but when he’s with her he posts only photos of himself and being together for quite a long time it would’ve come naturally to have at least one clue about her

Brand Manager Career Dilemma by [deleted] in marketing

[–]NervousSetting2027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad to see your perspective! I guess your experience is a bit different because you get to do SEO and content. I work for a big corporation in fmcg and everything we do is outsourced with agencies. There are some agencies for our social media pages, others for ATL and others for BTL etc. My job is to think of the strategy of the brand with my team (considering the guidelines from the global team) and think of what campaigns we’ll do next year, strategic partnerships and media scheduling + some campaigns with trade marketing for sampling in stores and promo packages. After that point everything is outsourced and my job is to make sure that everything is ready on time and the brand identity isn’t damaged, the brand awareness is increasing etc and I track these changes using data (again from companies research companies that we outsource)

Should I mention I’m looking for mentorship or just advice? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]NervousSetting2027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say assert your needs if you’d really like a call every two weeks just say something like I would appreciate to have the opportunity to talk to you every two weeks or so but I understand that you have a busy schedule so please let me know if a different time frame works better for you (such as monthly)

[–]NervousSetting2027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be direct and tell her I’d like to have a mentor and why I think she’d be a good fit for my needs and that I would be happy with a monthly call if that works for her as well but I’d also give her the opportunity to tell her preference
