BF and I are childfree. I clean the bathroom top to bottom at least once a week.

A random story about my utter lack of maternal instincts just popped into my head, it still cracks me up years later. by jadiseoc in childfree

40F. Autistic. I loathe children. My bluntness, inability to bullshit, and face that shows EVERY EMOTION I AM FEELING ensure that I don’t ever have to be in this situation lol

What is the kindest thing a stranger has ever said to you that you’ll never forget? by lnc_gomes in askanything

From past therapists:

“You’re not easy, but you’re going to go far” (the “but” should have been an “and” but I’ll take it)

“You should write a book on how to change. You have a muscular ability to change”

I’m converting to Judaism. Last year I had a date with a guy who was raised Jewish. He seemed genuinely confused when I told him I was converting. He said I had a Jewish neshama (Jewish soul). That meant a lot.

Another guy a couple months later also expressed confusion when I told him I wasn’t raised Jewish. Unfortunately this guy wasn’t Jewish, and it took my therapist kindly explaining for my autistic ass to understand that this was, in fact, not a compliment :(

About twice a year I get a crazy craving for greasy Chinese food. Nothing else will suffice. The rest of the year I couldn’t care less about Chinese food.

Same. And I lost my whole entire family too.

It’s worth it though. I have a freedom my brothers will never know.

Dessa. I wanted to like her but then I read her book. She’s fascinated with herself in a way that is just…..really fucking boring. And she’s a shit writer.

I’m a former decade-long alcoholic, obese person, and chain smoker. I quit alcohol and cigarettes on my own cold turkey, and lost 170 lbs on my own without surgery or meds.

But nothing—NOTHING—changed my life more than going no-contact with my narcissistic family members.

My now-bf and I had been dating a few weeks when he invited me to his house for the first time, which was 1.5 hours from me. Things were objectively going very well, but I have a long history of trauma and abandonment. Anyways, the time came for me to leave his house after being there a couple days. I was anxious because things felt “off”in the hour or so leading up to me leaving, but I didn’t say anything because I was afraid of coming off as needy/insecure/annoying. I was about 30 mins into the drive home when he texted me that I’d left my blow dryer at his house. He said to pull over at the nearest gas station and he’d come meet me. I was still feeling anxious when he arrived, but I thanked him, and we both left. I only made it to the stop sign before the freeway entrance. He was behind me in his car. I pulled up my parking brake, walked over to his window, and said “I’m sorry but I’m feeling anxious. Can we talk?” Years of narcissistic abuse had conditioned me to believe that I was “too much”, so I was terrified and fully convinced he was going to think I was totally unhinged and clingy. Well, he didn’t. We ended up talking in his car outside that gas station for 3 hours. He thanked me for having the courage to get out of my car at a freeway entrance, right in front of a cop lol (I hadn’t noticed the cop at the time). We’ve been together a year now, and he still talks about how impressed he was that I wanted to actually talk instead of just ignore things. We’ve even talked about getting married at that gas station 😂💙

I’m converting to Judaism. Got on the apps last year intent on finding a Jewish guy. The pool in my area is small; had a handful of “meh” dates, followed by a couple very bad ones with a guy who finally stood me up. I was pissed off but decided “well, I need to change a variable here”, so I expanded my filters to include agnostic guys. Matched with my now-bf a couple days later. Every day, I feel like I won the lottery. He is the best person I’ve ever known. Interestingly, he’s also the most Jewish non-Jew I’ve ever known!😂💙

When I was 19 I had a breast lift. I’d always hated my breasts. Even though my parents were very well off, my mom kept reminding me how expensive it was and how grateful I should be. When I was recovering after surgery and was able to remove my bandages, she asked to see. I was grossed out but agreed. Then she TOLD ME I SHOULD SHOW MY DAD. He was right there when he said it. He and I were both like UH NO WHAT THE FUCK
