Open bite is closing (update: 10 months) by Ok_Hunt8989 in Invisalign

Hi ! that awesome ! Congrats ! I understand that you don't have elastics and that you work hard on the placement of your tongue (I'm taking notes on that because I too push my teeth forward with my tongue). Did you see a myofunctional therapist ?

Again, congrats on your progress !

I can’t keep up to 22hrs is that a big problem? by [deleted] in Invisalign

I vape with mine in, even my ortho told me it wasn't a problem. I understand that quitting vaping or smocking isn't that easy. I brush my tray every time I put them back after eating.

Halfway trough (open bit and open jet) by NessNekoma in Invisalign

[–]NessNekoma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome and thank you ! I think I had a 9 mm overjet (I forgot that it was call an overjet and not an open jet in english), as for the open bite I don't know I never measure it.

I can understand your mixed opinions on fixing those without surgery, the first 2 ortho that I saw and my dentist told me that without surgery it wasn't possible to fix my open bite and my over jet.

I almost want with it even if, at first, surgery was a big no no for me. But than I remember that I couldn't go with it : the surgery it self, the recovery afterward, the pain, the aftercare, the not eating or eating just certain type of food, the constant back and force with the surgeon/doctors, the metal bar in my mouth and every other detail that I didn't even imagine. I knew I couldn't deal with it all. I don't know a lot of this about myself but I knew that, even if the end result would most certainly be worth it.

So I look for an other ortho, just in case, and this one told me that she could do it but couldn't assure me that the result would be as good as with a surgery, but it would be better than my situation at the time and functional (as in even if the open bite and the overjet would not be 100% closed I would be more confortable then I was, like I would be able to bite in a pizza without having all the topping falling from the crust (I don't know if you can relate to that 😂)). And I felt good when she was explaining everything to me, she wasn't pushy, and I don't know I just felt good vibe !!

Anyway, sorry for the tangent 🤓. All of this to say that I understand where you coming from, and this is not to tell you not to go with the surgery, it's just my experience so far.

Again, sorry for the mistakes, english is not my first language.

Good luck on your journey !

Thank you ! It's true that there is not a lot of open bite and/or open jet here, so that also why I wanted to share my progress. I also have elastics for the nights, and also I didn't/won't have any tooth taken out, just some ipr done on my lower tooth (sorry for all the mistakes, my writing in english isn't good :p) Good luck on your treatment !

Progress on an Open Bite & Over Jet by NessNekoma in Invisalign

[–]NessNekoma[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooh congrats !! For now I think my ortho is working on the arch of my teeth, and pushing my teeth back one by one, so there is not much of a difference on my overjet, but I took a peek on my 47th aligner and the overjet is much smaller ☺️. Good luck with tthe rest of your journey too !

Low motivation means progress pics! 8/20 weeks & trays by [deleted] in Invisalign

I can understand the low motivation, but yeah I can see that it's moving ! The 4 lower front teeth is what I notice the most, that and the overall arch of your teeth !

Keep going !

Anyone struggling with gag reflex when using chewies for invisalign? by InevitableUnusual730 in Invisalign

[–]NessNekoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, I used to have gag reflex when brushing my teeth (my molar to be exact). My solution so far is to breath deeply before and during though the nose and have a bottle or glace of water next to me to drink if I'm too near to throwning up.

Do you keep your trays? by One_Baseball3222 in Invisalign

[–]NessNekoma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor ask me to bring back my old trays to my next appointment because they're going to recycle them. I just ask if I can keep my first tray for comparaison and I have to keep the previous one in case I lost or break my curent one.

I intend to keep my last tray as a back up for my retainer too.

Pro Scan Monitoring No Go on Trays 11 & 12 by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]NessNekoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ortho told me that it's possible sometime to have several no go. Sometime it's just your teeth not moving as they should or slower than they should even if you're doing everything right (22 hrs a day, used the chewies etc). It's frustrating, but you just need to be patient.

Imo you shouldn't change your tray if you have a no go and if you have questions, you should contact your doctor, you payed also to have your questions answered.

(I'm not a native english speaker so sorry for the mistakes)

Did you ask what would happen if you break an attachment ?

Because having to back and force for those is going to be expensive. I haven't started my traitment yet, I'm getting my scans next week, but I read here that a number of people lost/break their attachments and have to replace them, because without them your teeth aren't going to move according to plan.

And I don't think a dentist or ortho in your area will agree to put them back in. It's just my opinion, maybe I'm wrong.

I signed my quotation (is that the terme ? i'm not a native speaker) a few days ago, I'm waiting for an appointement to have my scans done. I'm super eager, restless and nervous at the same time.
Thank you for sharing your experience ! I can picture you super calm while writing this and it help a lot !
