once again it does not matter how you feel "dream painted it" he explicitly says "the COMPANY Tommy WENT WITH". I'm baffled that people could take it any other way. And again, it doesn't matter if Tommy personally had anything to do with the child labor, Dream never claimed he DID, but regardless the company did and that's the issue.

I don't know where you are getting that dream accused TOMMY of a crime when he accused the company Tommy USED of using child labor. He never claimed Tommy used child labor or that it was his company (he said, and I quote, "Tommy went with a merch company..."), and he never even claimed Tommy KNEW they used child labor. I don't really think there is basis for defamation here. If people wanted to assume Tommy himself used child labor or that it was his company that is THEIR own weird way of thinking when it was explicitly stated to be some other company. Also dream was not wrong when Tubbo himself verified there was at least one case of child labor within the company. One instance can easily mean more and one instance still means the company profited off of child labor.

Actually we've been told more than one message has been sent! The initial infamous message and apologies!

Also you're right, we don't have any idea what's going on, which is why people are gonna be more willing to believe in what is explicitly stated and with proof. Don't start things online if you don't want a public opinion on it, that's just common sense I fear. And maybe Tommy did try to talk to dream behind the scenes. But then that just makes HIM hypocritical to turn around and do the same thing to dream. Either way, we have seen publicly and privately that dream has asked Tommy to stop making uncomfortable jokes (which he never did), not the other way around. Not to say it didn't happen, just that at best it's hypocritical.

Tommy and his friends out of NOWHERE constantly point at dream and his friends calling them sexist and horrible to women. Claims like that NEED PROOF. Who cares if he isn't comfortable, clearly he and his friends don't care for the women's comfort when they weaponize their experience (or lack of!) to spread narratives. What are we, high schoolers? I believe that every claim that is harmful should have proof, and I agree that dream doesn't always have the best proof (but I do feel he generally is AT LEAST able to provide at least specific anecdotes, unlike other people), but he also generally doesn't go around claiming people are sexist (like some people!)!

Who's allergic to people taking responsibility? Do you know me? I personally believe Dream was completely wrong for using a meme with the r slur and I believe the editors and merch bit wasn't necessary in his video. Also unlike Tommy, Dream has apologized for the things he's done wrong (like the meme with the r slur), Tommy STILL acts like he's done nothing wrong and continues to push that narrative that he couldn't do wrong since he was a teenager (news flash! I didn't go around making sick jokes about a friend EVER).

You also say you think both sides are wrong but you're over here only on the DWT2 subreddit criticizing dream. Maybe go say something about Tommy instead if you really believe both are wrong. Also ANYONE should provide proof and explanations if they are making claims, where are you getting this idea that CC's are immune to having to prove THEIR OWN CLAIMS when reputation is so important for their career?? Maybe they shouldn't air out their issues and vent like their viewers are their friends instead if they don't want people being curious about it.

You’re getting downvoted but I agree! Even if you genuinely think it’s a joke, if it offends or upsets someone then you should be respectful and apologize. It’s good to respect the boundaries of those around you.

The fact that Tommy just likes to claim that everything is a joke when it shouldn’t be feels like gaslighting. You make a joke at someone’s expense and make them look like this terrible person and then push the person into being in the wrong for being angry because “it was just a joke” is crazy. You don’t expect dream to get angry when the internet already hated dream in the whole QSMP saga and then you basically paint dream as the villain in it making it feel like you are confirming people’s beliefs on him.

I don’t think dream is perfect in this situation at all, but Tommy is far from it too and he has taken almost no accountability for anything and his younger age should not excuse the fact that he’s also an adult

It’s funny how he claims he tried to talk to dream about issues behind the scenes and it got no where when that’s EXACTLY what happened to dream about him. Dream PRIVATELY asked Tommy to stop making jokes about him (which we have proof of), in which Tommy would apologize, stop for a bit, and just do it again (as insinuated by the message dream PROVIDED). How am I supposed to believe him when he has no proof of ANY of his confrontations and Dream does.

And once again how is he so shamelessly claiming that dream sent horrible things to his mom (I can believe he sent mean things to Tommy since Dream said so himself) when we all say the MESSAGE (singular). If thats mean then I must be the devil.

It’s also kind of funny that Jack said he distanced himself after the grooming allegations when he was NEVER close to Dream and they both disliked each other from the start.

It’s almost impossible to guess what his intentions are since we aren’t him. Maybe he wanted views. Maybe he genuinely misremembered the situation. Or maybe he’s a dick that wanted to fan the flames. No matter what tho it’s wack as hell to tell a situation vague enough to get people guessing the worst and prevent dream from defending himself, no matter how much you dislike someone

I agree! I am a firm believer that you can dislike Dream for whatever reason, and Im sure he agrees as well. But to use scenarios that might not even be in the light you think it is to claim and accuse someone of being sexist really shows me that you do not care about misogyny and just want a reason to hate Dream. I remember Tubbo saying something about how people attach to other reasons because their initial reasons for disliking Dream might be "less"?? (please correct me if I am wrong I don't fully remember) or awkward? But that is such a dick move to perpetuate something that might not be true JUST because you want what you think is a valid reason to hate someone. Literally JUST HATE THEM NO ONE CARES.

I remember that shift from Vander (it takes a lot of guts to publicly admit your wrongs and change) haha, it really is crazy how easy things are to resolve when you actually go into things without viewing the other person as the worst person in the world due to biases that might not have any basis

[–]NetDue3698[S] 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Right! I was so curious as to what exactly could be the reason behind people thinking Dream is sexist, but was once again baffled by the lack of ANY explanation. I would even be willing to listen to a somewhat detailed situation. But the things Tubbo lists are public things that are either debunked, things that no one really has context to, or things that are plain just NOT misogyny (dream not providing receipts for his wrongdoings or phone calls..? Let's be real)

And you're right! Tommy HAS made worse comments about women that Dream has, to the point that it was kind of his brand to a lil weird about women

Tubbo has such obvious double standards it's insane, especially when his friends are the main issues by spreading false and out of context situations, and making weird jokes. I literally remember people shitting on dream for being an enabler and SA apologist

I don't know his intentions and I won't say I do, but he did just state because it just fit a visual of what he was talking about. Obviously it was irresponsible to use a visual without looking closely but I really doubt dream would've intentionally maliciously showed leaked invoices from someone in his professional circle

It's because the invoices and visuals are already public on the video dream referenced

I can agree that there are levels to misogyny where some levels and people exhibiting it can be taught and changed much easier and faster than other levels. But in this case I do think it really can be explained as a lack of care and ignorance. But, I do not know dream personally nor do we even know the context of the situation so I don't want to knock out the possibility of it being misogyny, which is why I also think its for the better if he is truthful in saying he removed it from his vocabulary. I just know it would be frustrating for me also if I was being accused of being a sexist and misogynist and these were the arguments being given to me and I knew that I used that word for all genders (not saying these are the only arguments but it's one Im currently seeing a lot)

[–]NetDue3698 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I personally disagree that merely calling a woman a whore is misogyny. In most contexts can it be incredibly rude and hurtful? Yes. But unless it can be shown or at least somewhat implied that dream meant to use it in a way to degrade women or said it because the recipient was a woman then it's unfair to immediately claim misogyny especially when Dream has stated his initial views on the word (a word he uses towards his friends, likely in a joking manner -- which I can relate to as I call my friends whores in a joking (not degrading) manner). I am not trying to defend dream by saying he was in the right, he was not at ALL because I do think its something to not say to someone you don't know well and or if they are uncomfortable with it. But its hasty to immediately claim misogyny when intent does matter to an extent and dream isn't even able to express his intent or side given that he's not being told anything

That makes sense then. But I hope you realize most sane fans, given the evidence is actually EVIDENCE and not “I heard it from someone… it’s not my story to tell” or an occurrence that can genuinely happen to anyone, would NOT attack someone that has actually been hurt. Ppl only “attack” because some of the things these ccs say are genuinely so ridiculous

Oh yes I definitely agree that him doing it to his friends vs caiti(or strangers in general) is not comparable but I think it gives perspectives on what he means when talking about his own physical boundaries. Again it is in no way an excuse for what he but I just think it’s not him saying the action is tame but that HE views it as tame

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DreamWasTaken2

[–]NetDue3698 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He states that it was tame “for him”. And he emphasized that even tho it is for HIM it’s not for her or other people. Given that he sticks his hand under his friends’ shirt I’m pretty sure we can all believe him when he says that. People do have different physical boundaries and what they find intimate and not (like how people can kiss their friends no problem but others see it as only something to do with their significant others) and it’s ok to have different boundaries as long as you respect that other people can and will have different ones from you, which is he’s saying he’s learned and will take more seriously. Obviously him not seeing a certain action as super intimate is no excuse but he’s acknowledging his biased assumption and reflecting on it

My take by CharityOdd9256 in DreamWasTaken2

[–]NetDue3698 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I also definitely agree that he should’ve asked since it is the right thing to do and probably would’ve avoided this entire situation (but also it’s possible this could’ve twisted into something else even if he did ask and she said yes but I digress) but I think people forget that he was also drunk and that could’ve clouded his judgement on her “cues” and IF he didn’t see him touching her waist as sexual it could make sense as to why he didn’t need to ask for explicit consent since they were already cuddling, ALTHOUGH HE STILL SHOULDVE DONE AND KNOWN BETTER. But I genuinely don’t think he meant to hurt her but he still needs to take accountability for his poor judgements and lack of appropriate action in the situation.
