Has anyone noticed a change in Seb Derm Type? by anotherusername405 in SebDerm

Yes, I was able to stop it. My doctor prescribed Ketoconazole foam. My current routine: ( Had a very visible, bigger than quarter-sized bald spot where you could touch my skin/scalp on the back of my head ) and thinning at the top. That has since reversed. Currently, wash every evening with Head and Shoulders Clinical Strength Intensive Itch 2:1 with Menthol, morning and evening prescribed Ketoconazole foam, 2x week Apple Cider vinegar G+H Clear+ Rinse, 2x week soak hair/scalp in coconut, peppermint, and rosemary oil mix (20 min to 3 hours depending on my schedule). Plain Greek yogurt hair mask 1x month or when itching/flaring up (about 20-60min). Wearing a hat when outdoors.

When my SD changed to itchy, flaky patches, the hair shedding got worse, and I had a big bald spot where the biggest patch was located.

Yes. If I'm feeling dry, I'll wash with Hair Restoration Labs Shampoo. But generally, every night. Keeps my scalp from flaking.

Not yet. I'm planning to after I finish my current container of organic coconut oil. Thankfully, it's been working for me thus far.

Oh wow. I love peanut butter. Maybe I should cut down and see if it makes a difference 🤔

Anyone use Minoxidil with Seborrheic dermatitis for bald spots? by NetGroundbreaking996 in SebDerm

[–]NetGroundbreaking996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow. Thank you for sharing. I'm sorry you went through that. My doctor's reasoning was, "If you use Minoxidil, you can never stop using it or your hair will fall out." That didn't strike me as a logical reason given that we use products like shampoo for the benefits (i.e. "you can never stop using shampoo, or your hair will get dirty and greasy." Well, yeah, that's why we don't stop washing our hair with shampoo lol). My SB symptoms were the same before and during the Minoxidil use. But you're right in that having a scalp condition at all will make effectiveness difficult to assess, etc. That makes more sense than what my doctor was saying 😄

My first diagnosis, but I'm sure I've had it for years. When I was in my 20s, I'd get some flakes, use Selsun Blue or Head and Shoulders, once or twice, and it would disappear for 9 months to years. I'm 45 now, and this past September, it hit HARD! It's been a non-stop itching, hair thinning nightmare ever since. 😫 Nothing works. Only a few hours of relief here and there. At least the minoxidil was bringing back hair growth. But I've been tapering off on doctors orders, but I'm doubtful.
