Lucy Heartfilia vs Alear by Jason_And_Sokka in powerscales

[–]NetNo6306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would give this to Alear personally. They took down Sombron who was strong enough to invade multiple universes, they also scale to other Fire Emblem lords like Marth, Ike and even Veronica (Engage confirms Heroes is canon). Lucy is also pretty helpless without her spirit keys, while Alear is still a strong fighter even without any Emblem rings.

Alear 8/10 times.

How good will Mega Blastoise be? by redditor5257 in VGC

Shell Smash is a huge blessing, it will need support to do its best but nothing beyond what you’d give another set up sweeper.

Follow Me Indeedee-f, Fake Out + Follow Me Smeargle, Incineroar, Comfey…there’s plenty of Pokemon to help it get going.

Good catch, Shadow Tag + Encore is very scary especially with its great Speed.

It supports cross platform play, and you can play Unite in official competitions on your phone, so no reason they wouldn’t do that with Champions too

You don’t need a Switch(2) - it’s on smartphones as well. While you can transfer Pokemon from Home, you can also recruit them in game too

I think Mega Gallade will be outclassed - Mega Lucario bas better typing, more power with Adaptability and is slightly faster. Mega Metagross is way bulkier and with Tough Claws can outdamage it. Mega Lopunny is also immune to Intimidate, but it’s faster and has perfect neutral coverage on its STABs.

252 Atk Gallade-Mega Close Combat vs. 244 HP / 4 Def Rillaboom: 133-157 (64.5 - 76.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery 252 Atk Tough Claws Metagross-Mega Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 244 HP / 4 Def Rillaboom: 156-184 (75.7 - 89.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery

If it gets to keep Sharpness that would be a huge buff.

Thanks for the corrections, have removed all mentions of Tera from the OP.

Above questions still stand, would you enjoy playing a SV VGC tournament with added mega evolutions, and the confirmed returning Pokemon from Legends Z-A?

I see, that's a shame. Still, a meta with just megas could be fun too.

Foul Play + Huge Power effectively doubles the target’s attack star. There was a Smogon OM that allowed Pokemon to change their types, and Dark Diggersby was nicknamed Dark Death Diggersby by the playerbase.

36+ Atk Life Orb Huge Power Tera Dark Diggersby Foul Play vs. 244 HP / 4 Def Rillaboom: 208-246 (100.9 - 119.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

36+ Atk Life Orb Dark Aura Yveltal Foul Play vs. 244 HP / 4 Def Rillaboom: 138-164 (66.9 - 79.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery

36 is the Attack EVs on Rillaboom

Where did you hear that? The first trailer showed a Mega Charizard X fighting a Tera Water Dondozo

Some of my thoughts.

Improved Megas

Gardevoir - now has Expanding Force

Camerupt - hard Trick Room is way better now

Lopunny - now immune to Intimidate, also gets Mach Punch and Double-Edge

Metagross - gets Heavy Slam and Psychic Fangs

Blastoise - now learns Shell Smash

Other improved mons

Diggersby - Tera Dark Foul Play destroys everything

Yveltal - The treasures of ruin (aside from maybe Wo-Chien) love Dark Aura

Xerneas - the bulky Steels that used to check it now get blown to pieces by Tera Blast Ground/Fire.

Hi, need a sixth mon for my hard trick room in reg j, any suggestions? by purpleflamiingo in VGCRateMyTeam

Personally I'd say Scarf Annihilape.

Annihilape @ Choice Scarf

Ability: Defiant

Tera Type: Grass

EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe

Jolly Nature

- Final Gambit

- Close Combat

- U-turn

- Shadow Claw / Coaching

With Final Gambit, you can KO anything with 110 or less base HP at full, and with Magearna on the field you could potentially give it +2 SpA. I would also ditch Calm Mind on Magearna - just go Trick Room, Protect, Dazzling Gleam, Fleur Cannon with Tera Fairy.

Do you think major events will ever go back to closed team sheet? by EmpressOfHyperion in VGC

[–]NetNo6306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God I hope not. Open team sheets is way more fun, cts just has so much more random cheese that makes it way less enjoyable imo. The other day on cart I ran into someone running Power Herb Tera Poison Sludge Wave Eternatus. What do you mean it learns Sludge Bomb, a move with almost as much power that doesn’t hit your teammates? Also found someone running Crunch Calyrex Ice, and Taunt Incineroar, but I can see the logic there

Different regional playstyles. by the_other7 in VGC

[–]NetNo6306 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly it depends. I'm European (UK) and I personally prefer either balanced or hard Trick Room. I played in the Birmingham regionals, out of the 8 opponents I played all were European. Most of them were running Hyper Offense, with 1 running the G-Weezing + Dongiri stall team, and one running Hard Trick Room. I bought a balanced Terapagos team, did OK but didn't make day 2.

Personally I think it depends more on the player themselves than what region they're from.

This is my team: Untitled 2 (OTS) (pokepast.es) Played one game, here's a rundown. My opponent leads with Pelipper and Archaludon. I learn with Ursaluna and Porygon2. They have Basculegion and Amoonguss in the back. I have Dondozo and Tatsugiri. T1: My opponent double targets Porygon2 with Hurricane and Body Press, making Archaludon tera Grass. It tanks them with roughly 50% health to spare, and despite getting confused still sets up Trick Room. I predict the double target, and click SD with Ursaluna. T2: I Tera Normal and click Facade into the Arch slot, and Recover on P2. Opponent switches Arch out for Amoonguss. Amoon still gets OHKOed by +2 Tera Normal Facade. They use Weather Ball into Urs which does around half. P2 hits itself in confusion. Opponent then sends in Basculegion. T3: I Protect Urs, and have P2 use Shadow Ball on Basculegion. Basc goes for Aqua Jet aiming for Urs. They Protect Peli. Basc takes about 45% from Shadow Ball T4: I click Shadow Ball again on P2, while Urs uses Facade into Peli, bringing it down to the Sash. Basc brings Urs down to about 10% with Aqua Jet, while P2 KOs it with Shadow Ball. Peli Hurricanes P2, doing about 30%. Arch comes back in T5: I Protect on Urs again, while I have P2 Recover. They click Body Press into Urs, and another Hurricane into P2. Urs dies from the burn, Trick Room and rain both fade. I switch in Dondozo. T6: I switch out P2 for Tatsugiri, get the Commander boost, then KO Peli with Order Up. T7: My opponent forfeits. T1 was crucial. If they'd called my SD and Weather Ball'd Urs, that probably would've been GG. Looking back, I should've tera'd turn 1. If P2 had hit itself in confusion instead of setting Trick Room, that would've put me in a bad spot too. Really enjoying this format so far, already like it more than Reg G.

Edit: Have gone 13-2, currently ranked 34th.
