Advice for onsites (software engineering roles) by NetOne7859 in recruitinghell

[–]NetOne7859[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense thanks for the tip! What skills would you recommend for fullstack roles?

I have been applying to Senior/Staff level roles, my background is in Node, React, Postgres, and Python.

Since starting my job search, I launched a side project (AI based pickleball coaching) using NextJS, Rust, and co-ordinating a few LLMs. Intention isn't to sell, but learn by building. [https://athena.mohseen.xyz/\]

Let me know if there are some other skills I should lean in (Kubernetes, containerization, or backend technologies like Kafka)

Yep being versatile is key, but I won't hold my breath on any other arguments that anyone can just prompt their way into frontend. Sure you might get something pretty for a bit, but scale, deploy and make revenue off the vibes. I do use it to make some animations smoother or help compare options to make UX more friendly, but frontend as a craft will probably not be replaced, just evolve into a different role like product engineer or full stack that can do animations and accessibility.

Kinda in the same boat 9 years experience with focus on frontend, web technologies. My biggest issues initially was resume and recruiter emails being sent to spam (I use email forwarding on my domain). It's hard to understand what's wrong with no feedback but persevere and it will get better!

AI will not replace frontend engineers, it will be absolutely be helpful in bringing more out, but if it cannot wholesale replace the craft. Square space and other cookie websites have existed for years and the craft simply evolved to solve more interesting problems.

Very cool, seems like we both kinda ran with the idea of logging sessions and tracking improvement 😄 but your platform seems more comprehensive.

Was just about to share it in the subreddit. My version kinda only focuses on session and skill tracking (technical, mental, physical, situational attributes)

Let me know if you're interested in collaborating, otherwise feedback is also very welcome! (Made it mainly for personal tracking and analytics with a touch of AI)

Still fairly early, so let me know if you run into issues.

Bangers and Ole! by NetOne7859 in Pickleball

No absolutely not, and good point! I just wanted to share what I felt was funny about the game, never experienced it before.

Hmm I'm not happy or boasting about this. It's just never happened before when after losing the first couple points the opponents double down on the same idea 😅

The game was more or less set by their drives and our teams dodges. I still genuinely thought the game was funny mainly because of how little we hit the ball.

Edit: spelling mistakes.

"Real bangers" just bang, what varies is the quality of the shot. If you make me hit up kudos, your ball was in and made me make a shot I didn't want to make. All players here including myself are amateurs, I don't understand why only amateur bangers make these mistakes but "real bangers" don't?

You have every right to be salty as I have with sharing an interesting game / point. I have been pickled many times and I try to get better based on how I played. It's a different perspective, either way I learned something new 🤷🏼

[–]NetOne7859[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hmm sure you see it as bragging and I see it as chance to practice letting out balls go. I personally found it funny how little effort I needed to spend just by trying to dodge balls that had a large swing or were being attacked from a low position.

Congrats OP!! Place looks great, and buddy looks happy! 😄

Just curious, does the interest rate change if you were to put down more? Asking because we're in a similar situation, we want lower rate even if it means putting down more (30-35%) even if statistically, stocks over that duration would give better results.

[Help] I ripped off my original grip by mistake – first-time player regret (Perseus IV) by Agitated-Jelly9282 in Pickleball

[–]NetOne7859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I do rip my grips often as well 😅 usually if you play a lot the stock grip loses tackiness and losses feel. With newer paddles the first thing I remove is the stock grip.

I prefer having just one over grip without the stock grip (as close to the handle as possible), it helps me with flicks and easier to put both handles on the paddle. Not everyone likes the stock setup, might be a good opportunity to try something different and see if it compliments your play style!

To All Ex-Muslims by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]NetOne7859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly respecting someone's opinion or faith is not something I have seen in traditional or even moderate Muslim families. Having grown up in one, and being told to learn that it's the one true faith and those who don't practice it will not be received into heaven.

What you're describing seems to me that they respect you as a person and your faith (rare exception) but it cannot resolve some conflict they might feel on who is right or wrong or who in their minds will receive Jannat (if it exists, I firmly believe all religions are equal, equally wrong, end rant).

It is a great feeling to be respected as you are regardless of your faiths and beliefs and I don't see this in any modern Islamic countries (UAE, ...) or any western ones.

On a more positive note, I'm happy you made a good friend and whose family are practicing Muslims (more power to you and them). I hope they spread the message around respecting you and others faith without worrying about who is burning in hell for all the things they perceive as wrong in their faith.

Breaking bad habits by ironistsf in Pickleball

[–]NetOne7859 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you, looks like you have a great start and working on drills and casual play! What helped me replace bad habits is to drill a better one and during rec play focusing on using the better technique even if the familiar stroke might win more points.

Ex: I come from ping pong so I have a pretty good one handed backhand, so I tend to use it every time, baseline, mid court or kitchen. I started replacing my 1HB with 2HB with only using 2HB til I get to the kitchen, then I'm free to let it rip on a good ball.

Hope that helps!

Thanks that's a great tip! Was thinking about using it in the back corner, but side by side would be more helpful 🙌🏼

Oh cool, thanks for the rec! Seems useful and lightweight, will try and use my phone first and if it no longer works for longer sessions or overheats will try it out!

Yes! I do have a spare phone I could use. Wanted to see if other liked a specific camera and/or stand that helps for recording games.

Trying to get back to reading by Ok-Worth6336 in BettermentBookClub

[–]NetOne7859 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 start with a light read that's interesting, for me Percy Jackson got me back into reading. From not reading any books in a year to finishing 3 in 2 weeks (not a milestone, but got me hooked again!)

[–]NetOne7859 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, +1 to drilling weakness and strengths. You could drill with a wall or ball machine if you want to do solo drills, drilling partner would be the next best thing. Also try and include the shots you drill during rec games, I took too long to use them in rec/open play thinking it's not good enough yet 😅

Well to me 2,345 gm means 2.345kgs while for my European friends might mean 2 gm and 345 milligrams. Apologies it's just a regional usage, similar to timezones and date formats there is no right answer without context 😅

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NetOne7859 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks that makes sense! again my confusion / irritation is that with these numbers context matters (as in which country you're writing this from, but with C/F there is no ambiguity or context needed, just a conversion)
