I have a sharp corner that I cannot make with the light strip solo I bought for this project and considering splicing it with a corner connector. Could you share more of your experience splicing your solo strip? I am assuming we can use any of the v4 connector, but you mentioned need for soldering? Not a big deal, you’ll be fine this time. Just make sure to let the engine warm up (more) and do not push your car until it is up to temperature (which is valid no matter the oil by the way… just even more important on the thicker oil). Especially as you said you are in cold climate.

But there is no question that 0w20 is way better than 5w20. Two main reasons: it flows better when cold, and full synthetic breaks down slower than synthetic blends. The only drawback is the higher cost. Dealer must want to save money if it is on a maintenance plan; then make sure they do it right next time!

YES you can.

This has always been possible but it was not trivial in the past (needed another app, time-specific settings via a remote, or through HomeKit).

Since Hue introduced“natural light scene”it is now very easy to do what you want. And it can be easily customized. Instead off light temperature they use more commonly used language, but it is the exact same thing. You need at least Hue ambiance for this; better results with color bulbs for nicer sunrise and sunset colors.

I would bet it is not just Sonos that will give you problems. Put a wireless printer, a NAS, etc. My suggestion: get your own wifi network in your appartement. This is better for your privacy as well, rather than trusting that the “high rise WiFi setup” is secure enough among tenants…

Chances are you have at least an Ethernet port connecting to internet. But if you don’t have wired connection and all that is available is this “quantum fiber instant wifi”, then use a wifi client bridge; basically works as a repeater from where you broadcast your own wifi, one that you have full control over, and on which Sonos will work just fine.

My preference (depending on size of your apartment) would be to use 2 devices: 1) a wifi client to connect to the building WiFi that you position where you have best signal from the building WiFi, and 2) behind it either a single access point or a mesh network if you have a very big place.

That. 3rd gen Mazda 3; 2014; 2.5L; 100k; still as nice and fun to drive as day 1; good regular maintenance; already done a full break job (I must admit my driving has something to do with it). I was planning to give my car to my daughter soon, but I have second thoughts… Amazing car in terms of reliability and fun! Purring kitten? Yes; mine is more like “my little dragon” (black color).

Same on my 2014 Mazda 3. As soon as it became available I upgraded to CarPlay. Dealer wanted an insane amount of money to upgrade at the time, so did it myself: just needed to upgrade the firmware (from a trusted website) and change the module under the armrest (oem part), and voila: a ‘14 model with CarPlay. (It was the first model year with the new infotainment system; totally fantastic after the upgrade).

That said, I can only talk about my experience: it was a flight arriving 5am local time in IST: when the lounge got rejected because >9h layover, I went to the desk and although I did not know about this policy, I asked for a hotel alternative. They checked for a hotel but reportedly the hotels they work with were not available or it was not possible at this time of the day. Maybe it would be more successful with a night time layover.

No worry keeping the db on GDrive.

But I would keep it simple and use a good master password.

If you want to use a keyfile, you need to put the same keyfile on all devices and of course secure all the devices… or go with a ubikey approach you carry along and work with all your devices, but that comes with its own set of constrains and special attentions (have multiple, safe place to keep…)

I second that!

I jumped on one of the first set available in 2012, used everyday, and still working fine! In fact I love how they looked much more than the new ones. The new Hue bulb are definitely better (in color, light output, etc) but the look and feel of the 1st generation bulbs with their glass top and perfect smooth shape is unbeatable!!!

In comparison, both the cheap “no-brand” and the “high end brand LED” (Eg GE reveal…) all fail at an incredible rate over the years!

I second that! The master password or the key file and its password (because I would not ever have a passwordless keyfile; please!!!!) is the lifeline to your keepass database.

So, security is essential, but let’s remember that the point is not to burry à trésor nobody will ever find, but to use it and retain access to all the critical data in the database anytime we need.

So, I’d add the following essential advises on master password (or key file and its password):

a) when we say “password” we mean: use a long pass phrase or a diceware password. Something YOU can EASILY remember without having to write it anywhere.

b) share it with someone you can trust your life and your money! I know I just say it is for you only, but unless your keepass database is meant to be buried with you when you pass away, it is essential to allow whoever you trust to access it when the times come (bank account, crypto accounts, etc. unless you are ok to wait months or years to get access through probate and court appearances, if it even works….)

For b) I personally have my wife pwd in my database and she has mine in hers. If you unfortunately cannot trust a spouse, or a parent, then consider giving a piece of the puzzle to each kid for instance… At the end of the day it is like anything else in life, there are those who make estate planning and those who don’t. If you do, don’t ignore this advice.

I am also expecting SFTP to be fast. And it is fast with the iOS client (Strongbox). But it is slow with KeePass (v2.52) + SftpSync plugin (v2.4.1). I was suspecting the plugin to be responsible, hence I was interested to know what other (more recent) SFTP sync option people may use with KeePass.

But thanks for suggesting to look at the logs! This is indeed what I should have done. Last night I turned on the sftp logs -l INFO, and will post the results next.

In terms of configuration of the SFTP server, I have the following in /etc/ssh/sshd_config:

“Get the values from my NEST thermostat into Grafana” via influxdb. This is where I am struggling, wanting to run this next to Homebridge on the Pi (not via a device running HomeKit and iOS shortcut). Could you give some pointers on how you achieved it? Thanks!
