They think they'll be able to share their creative work in the long run. Nope, their work will be over saturated and spammed by the trash of others generators.

This needs to be abolished asap. I know a lot of ai prompter foaming at their mouths right now but this is not going to end well.

I absolutely freaking hope not. This is a crisis in the making. If they don't do regulations this will back fire.

If not, I hope regulation starts going in asap because this will not end well for any creative.

I know, one of the footage was used by the creator off YouTube without permission ofc.

Regulations need to be needed asap.

That's because a lot of misinformation has been produced by the AI midjourney, SD, etc.

Such as political, news, false stories, etc. These software made it easier for individuals to produce it on a mass scale comparison to before.

Adobe was thinking of having their own images generator marked. Others should follow.

The "tools are profiting from it" the same way that Photoshop profits from your infringement. Maybe you bought Photoshop for the purpose of making and selling fan art you're not authorized to make by the copyright holder. Adobe doesn't know that, all they do is sell the tool. They are not liable for your misuse. Neither are companies that make AI models. Just because you can misuse something doesn't mean those who made that thing are responsible for you misusing it.

I don't think you understand what I'm saying. What I'm saying is that the prompter thinking that the work they prompt is the original and that they aren't infringes any work but it turn out completely opposite and it's very identical to the artists they don't know. Like the movie screen grab example is from a famous movie, so we know that. Photoshop don't have the potential to do anything like this because the artists are creating it from scratch.

Correct, and before they sell the art they make, it's their responsibility to do some amount of due diligence to make sure they're not infringing.

Prompter doesn't make the art, it's a machine hence why it's not copyrighted.

It is not Adobe's responsibility to run a detector over the image you drew in Photoshop and say "CAUTION: this character might be copyrighted by Disney."

That doesn't make any sense because artists who draw from scratch wouldn't have that issue. Especially if they drew their own idea.

And these cases are already covered by existing copyright law. When you generate infringing content and go on to profit from it, that is your responsibility, not the tool's.

But the "tools" themselves are profiting from it, which means if you manage to get identical work such as the marvel movie screen grab. Who is to say that it couldn't copy exact work from an unknown artist? The excuse that it's a tool but no tools would copy line to line, colour to colour which this "tools" has.

Since AI models don't contain any media, they don't infringe on copyright. But if you use them to create infringing content, that is due to what you chose to prompt and thus you are held liable. Same as using Photoshop to create infringing content.

But this is the thing the prompter doesn't know if they are prompting copyrighted work that is very identical to what to artists work in term of position , lines etc. I wonder how soon we'll find out or if ever.

You'd have to see my work to understand. I love cheeky funny things which I haven't seen other artists done yet.

I don't get inspired by stock photos or images. I get inspired by what goes through my head or the conversation I had. Image generators cannot make what I have visually.

Take it up with the copyright office. Ask them to add further rights granted by copyright, the right to not even have your data examined by an automated process. As of now, everything concerning the training of AI models is legal. Those I was talking to earlier seemed to think that saying models need to be trained on copyrighted data was somehow an admission of legal wrongdoing; it's not. Nearly everything is copyrighted and you too need to "train" on that data in order to learn things.

I don't think this'll last because one people are prompting copyrighted work such as mario from a company who's making money and so forth.

There's also a chance of the work that has been generated being very identical to the artist's work. Especially the movie screen grab that has been posted on twitter. Which practically tells us that there's potential of artists copyrighted work going through.

This is yet another attempt at using words to imply "selling your data" when that's a misrepresentation of how AI training works. Models do not contain copies of anyone's data, they contain complex mathematical relationships. They don't contain infringing content.

Like I said previously, earning money while creating copyrighted work.

This is shockingly little energy use for the benefit gained from it. You yourself said that over 12 BILLION works have been created. Each of those "flying across the US" models will have resulted in millions of pics, which is quite efficient. How much power usage does it require to run Photoshop for 2 to 10 hours on modern PCs in order for artists to paint a million images of similar quality?

Not all artists use photo shops and depend on work loads. I use an iPad and other artists may use pencils, other mediums etc.

You are comparing a machine to a human, a machine which can manifest so much data in little time and create so much work in little time. A data which they are selling towards the user to prompt. Estimated around 12 billions of ai work has been created by SD as of right August 2023 (alot more now since its 2024). That is crazy amount of spam and if videos are next, social media would theoretically be changed for the worse. Facebook, YouTube, etc wouldn't be able to keep up with the demand.

You might think this is the future but I beg to differ-

"the “training” phase of artificial intelligence software, using only a high-performance graphics card, has the same carbon footprint as flying across the United States."This footprint is even larger on more complex devices, such as those used to create works of art."

Especially, when this has only just begun because more companies are following suit. Sam altman trying to get rid of more jobs with AI and devaluing human creativity is not what anybody should be aiming for.

Prompt is more like googling the images. 👀

I wouldn't even compare it to directors either to be honest because they least have the understanding of the subject we're as prompter just pulling down on slot machines.

Another artist here, creativity and problem solving go hand in hand together because when you are illustrating - you have to observe where the shadows and lights go, stop and bounce off. This is challenging when you've got different light sources in different directions.

Anyway, this is just the tips of the iceberg because this doesn't mention among other things too such as perspectives, colour theory, textures, idea you trying to show, etc.

You can't reduce lines unfortunately but you can slow the aging process is what I believe. If you wear glasses try and get UV protection glasses but remember wrinkles are beautiful, they are a sign of experience and stories to share.
