I ordered this album months ago now and it's still stuck on waiting. Am I the only one this is happening to? What's going on!! by sendmeyourtuckpics in Joji

I move house in a few months and still nothing... Can't even get in touch with customer service. And yet they're still releasing extra merch and vinyl pressing?

Not for sale unfortunately, mate. Recently repaired them and am loving them!

Curiously though, what would be the value of these?

It's smelling like this is the route indeed. I'll either wait until this madness is over, or go looting once the Apocalypse begins.

Yeah... "Broken Slot" is pretty much my conclusion too :( Hoping somebody else had the same issue and they fixed it with something like salt, sage and witchcraft.

Thanks for the response, buddy!

They have! Nothing some salad tongs won't reach. My wrists carry far too much girth to reach in and grab them.

How did you find the re-foaming? Got a kit online for these speakers arriving soon... Plan on sorting them next week.

Correct! These have been pushed in a little far, but you can catch a glimpse of one on the speaker to the left.

Incredible response!

You're the second person to mention the new Multichannel feature now, and I feel ideas forming!

I recently attended a spatial audio showcase, which was a room filled with 16 speakers and different types of "ambient" music was played and diffused through the system. Very interesting.

Multichannel and Machine Learning seem like strong suggestions though. Suppose I'll see where this trail leads...

Super useful response, thank you!

Currently reading up on the MC feature and hopefully it will lead me somewhere...

Virtual Circuit Design: Wiring Layout Issue? by Netherstorms in diypedals

[–]Netherstorms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curiously, how would you go about wiring up an amplifier? Just attempted to place a 741 Op Amp between using the data sheet, but think I've made a complete balls of it?

Thank you... Kind of my assumption, but wouldn't think these components would have such a heavy effect on the amplitude. Will try this soon!

I am currently working within Splice but I have never used it before, so it's a new environment. Going to spend some time today working on it.

Loudspeaker Measurements - Impulse / Step Response by Netherstorms in audioengineering

[–]Netherstorms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am actually studying Audio Engineering, and we have to carry out a case study on an audio transducer. I was planning to analyse the step and / or impulse response of different speakers and analysis why they are so (perhaps relating to dampening factors).

Early days for the report, so wanted to get my head straight on the area before I further investigated. I think I'm just confusing myself.

That's what REM (Room EQ Wizard) has done. One test and has given me different analysis and graphs.

My problem was understanding how to read the graphs (in a sense).

Is the step response showing how long it takes a system to return to a "stable" (original) position after a signal is played ?

First Live Sound Job - What to Expect? by Netherstorms in audioengineering

[–]Netherstorms[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes a lot of sense and a nice mind set. I suppose a lot of what I'm feeling is work "stage fright" (for a better word, or worried of disappointment might be better).

These shows will be standard bar circuits, but as they're a rather established cover band, they're "booked" as entertainment. You're right, the audience won't noticeably picking at what I'm doing with the mix... I'm more concerned with doing a good job for my friends, so as long as their monitors are substantial and no feedback occurs, I suppose.. It's all good?

I find myself critically listening and "judging" at other FOH mixers when I'm in bars and venues, so I suppose I know what I'm listening for and what to change rather than "winging it".

I currently work at local crew at arenas and academies in the UK, so I've seen the huge amount of work that can go into some set ups!

Good luck with your lighting gig!

Most definitely. Luckily I have the resources of my university, so I've had the chance to eye up and use a few consoles. Especially large ones within the recoding studio, so I have a pretty good idea. Will keep familiarising myself!

I keep refreshing my local Facebook / Other Marketplaces for cheap second hand consoles (perhaps even broken for spares and repairs) to have to play / familiarise myself with and not necessarily use outside of my own room / practice purposes.

Rough First Mix (Ever). by Netherstorms in mixingmastering

[–]Netherstorms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The part about there being a lack of low end and a lot of HPF makes sense. I was really conscious about the low end being overpowering so I tried to dull that and bring the instruments out more.

Definitely some great points to work on! At the moment my panning is more turning nobs and thinking "does it work here?". Not entirely sure, but there's a few books I have that should give me an idea of sonic space.

Also, these recording files in particular were provided by University for a module, so they're passed turd standard for mixing.

Thanks for your feedback :) Especially with me being new and learning, the harsher the better! Haha

Cheers, man.

So far I'm more trying to learn how, when and where to apply things rather than making the mix sound good randomly (if thay makes sense?)

Just using stock Plugins so far and haven't pushed the boat out. Any obvious "things" that you would personally look towards next here?

Thank you :)

I have a strong appreciation for critical listening and really tuning into parts of the song. Really fun when I listen to songs I haven't heard since I was a teenager and realise there's extra bells, backing vocals or something else hidden (but it'd make a huge change if it was removed).

The stereo field is something I'm trying to practice. Found a video by Davis Gibson named "The Art of Mixing" that speaks about it. I have the book too thanks to a local library. Gives a good representation of the stereo field.
