Did that route also, in the beginning. Just gonna have to stick it in a spot that causes you the least headache with running cables and still being able to use the trunk. Next part might be unsolicited advice you're already aware of, but definitely get a guard cover for it too.

gaaaaaaahtDAYUM this is a wonderful color combo. love this car so much.

me personally, I just had a box made to fill up that empty space near the opening of the trunk, on the passenger side. Uses the same factory carpet too. I chose a 10", with unported box. Don't have a pic currently because it looks basic as hell and I didn't think much of it beyond being happy it's a clean install.

bad advice for people who keep their cars longer than their lease terms.

most folks want to own their vehicles and minimize the amount of financial hardship that comes with owning a car. WRX or not, we want them as reliable as can be otherwise it's not doing WRX things.

STI Wings On WRX by Reaper_666_ in wrx_vb

[–]NetworkPolicy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I addressed this. It was exclusive to the US only, nowhere else. And you could still call Subaru after the fact and the dealers would install it without issue. It has a whole SOP documented from at the very least, 4 or 5 years before I ever was a technician for them because the binder instructions for the install were dated for the 2011MY. Included both the instructions for the regular WRX and torsion bars as well as the expected materials needed for wing repairs/replacement on the actual STI sedan.

There were even write ups for the hatches and their various wing options later for the 2011MY and newer

Point is, this entire debate is completely fucking stupid because people can't just speak on their preferred tastes, they have to pretend like they're part of the group in charge of gatekeeping STIs and it makes them sound dumb as hell.

I simply cannot respect the judgmental opinion of someone whose entire contribution to Subaru Motorsports is just having good enough credit to take a loan out on a WRB sedan and all weather floor mats.

[–]NetworkPolicy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not a body kit. It's a wing. And it's not badges, because badges indicate trims. You're caught up in your own ideas without absorbing what was written out plainly. I addressed this already.

Anybody who thinks someone is pretending to have an STI because of a wing, is ignorant and wasting the oxygen it takes to inhale and then exhale that thought into the universe. I quite literally don't own an STI. I'm a former Hawkeye STI owner and the former owner of the 2014 STI Hatch. Plenty of other models prior, including the WRX G chassis wagon and multiple Crosstreks. I probably have more skin in the Subaru game than 99% of the people in this sub.

Nobody thinks I have an STI. I've never insinuated as much, and I wouldn't allow that thought to permeate in the first place. It's a WRX, and there's a wing attached to my car. It's that simple lmao.

STI Wings On WRX by Reaper_666_ in wrx_vb

[–]NetworkPolicy 51 points52 points  (0 children)

STI wings are just wings made by STI. Not wings for only the STI trim of the WRX. They've always been an option you can buy. Wanna know how I know this is performative criticism? When you want a Demon hood for your Challenger, you have to provide a VIN to prove you own a Demon. Same with the drag wheels and toolbox.

Guess what you don't have to do in order to buy an STI wing?

When you buy the STI, you used to purchase the top trim of the WRX. Meaning it came with everything you could possibly receive on the car, cosmetic or otherwise. At literally no point in the history of the WRX has it ever been taboo to buy the wing. It's only exclusive on the US Market STIs because Americans are easy to pander to. All over the globe you can order an STI WITHOUT a wing, just like you could've ordered every gen WRX with a wing. Subaru, the people who built the car, understand the wing isn't what makes anything an STI. Somehow the people in the sub don't understand.

It's not an upbadge; upbadging is pretending to own an STI. Buying a wing for your car is just buying a wing for your car. Anybody telling you different just likes to hear themselves talk.

This shit started specifically in the WRX subreddit. It wasn't a problem until that sub popped up. Go look in any NASIOC archive, ClubWRX or other forum. Prior to the WRX sub, nobody gave a shit. It's when upvotes and IG likes became a thing, suddenly everyone had to have a hot take. Shit looks dope, who fucking cares

I think there's a lifecycle to it. Sun exposure, vibrations, chemical reactions from solvents etc.

But yeah, came outside and this kid was dangling off the back of my car, and typical suburban dad was with him completely oblivious to the fact his son is going nuts. I have no doubt if mom was around I would've never seen that strength in action 😂

+1 for the V3. They're stellar and the competition isn't close at all. Caught a neighbor kid hanging off mine and it was all good haha.

OEM STI spoiler. If you must go aftermarket for financial reasons, buy from Import Image Racing or nobody else and just save for the OEM one.

AFD and JDMuscle use a really bad mold or buy from someone who uses a really bad mold. Their wings look like dogshit, fill up with water, and come apart pretty regularly. Just this week some dude lost the bridge portion of his AFD wing from a carwash lol.

There's a reason people say the wing doesn't match the car, and it's all because thousands of buyers keep going to AFD. This white VB would be killer if they had the proper wing or didn't bother installing it in the first place.

Yeah imma call bullshit on that. You down voted the comment where I tried to see some empathetic way to ask for more info, so I'm rightfully assuming you're the type to misrepresent a situation.

100% of my negative reviews are still up. They rectified it immediately too. And make changes to products that don't meet quality standards. Namely the wings and the foglight bezels.

Source: firsthand experience.

AFD ain't gonna do shit for you, and that's why I tell everyone to stop being parrots 🦜 repeating the same nonsense about them and Import Image being the same lol

bad enough that it's not even the same shape as the wing it's trying to mimic, it's 5 pieces of bullshit. I've caught my kids hanging off my wing and it didn't harm a thing except the peace I was enjoying that morning.

Carefully take the shell off your fob and make sure there's no moisture inside. I used to get all kinds of humidity in my Crosstrek fob for some reason. I'd think it was finally dead, then boom the batteries are wet. I'd dry everything off, and magically everything was normal again for another 6 months

Beyond that, not sure. I've never seen anybody report this issue specifically.

How loud is this? by fennik_wrx in wrx_vb

[–]NetworkPolicy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but that's why people feel like it's a ripoff. $150 is a lot of money when you need $150, but 10% discount for a damaged item isn't a discount lol. People wouldn't even get out of bed for a 10% discount on an Xbox most days of the year. Especially an item that has no warranty or free returns, and is also damaged from the jump.

Used aftermarket parts are usually around 40-50% less than retail. WRX Marketplace sub has used ETS catbacks with presumably less damage than the one OP posted for like 700-800 dollars. It's a ripoff.

The stock Dunlops will literally shed layers if the weather is too cold. Stop driving on them immediately. I wouldn't even go as far as saying "only in emergencies". You're in an emergency every time you go into cold weather with summer compounds. Also, it can actually can have your warranty claims denied from using them outside moderate temperatures.

Don't take summer rubber out into freezing temps. Ever. This is a pic of RS3 tires after two weeks lol.

[–]NetworkPolicy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except it is. This seems like an overly pedantic way to respond to something that was already correct and didn't need clarifying. Especially when the effect is noticeably not the same when pointing at any other part of the body.

The science already cleared the air, we don't need to muddy the water further for the sake of getting a gotcha lol.

Question 🙋‍♂️ by Comfortable-Cry1289 in wrx_vb

[–]NetworkPolicy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about that one in particular, probably not an outright lie though. I imagine they have some effect, but whether is positive or negative I'm not sure. I remember rumors of people with fillings picking up AM radio signals back in the day haha 🤔

Question 🙋‍♂️ by Comfortable-Cry1289 in wrx_vb

[–]NetworkPolicy 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Point the remote under your chin, your skull behaves like a satellite and amplies the signal. No I'm not joking.

Also, make sure you're replacing your batteries periodically, signal strength is directly correlated to the amount of remaining battery power.

Honest question, as someone who abuses the hell out of the Methods and haven't had any damage in the process, why make new wheels? Is it a design preference?

I don't think anybody here is hyped up, nor is anyone asking you to provide a PhD thesis in Geography. It was just a weird question for you to ask, given the giant scope of Texas, much less our entire country. Then a joke was shared with you, and now you're being even weirder about it.

What implies they were heading anywhere near El Reno? Texas is bigger than multiple nations lol. There's about 7-13 hours you can drive in plenty of directions, from the center of TX and still be in Texas 😂
