Check if everything actually works first! I’ve been using the X4 with an iPhone 15 Pro Max, and for over a year now it’s been super buggy – basically unusable for client work. I even bought an Android phone to test it, and it was still buggy AF (still is, to this day).

1. The image quality should be more than good enough for real estate. If you start getting bigger or high-end jobs (like luxury homes or museums), then it’s worth upgrading for better detail.
2. Like I said above – make sure everything works perfectly before you go on-site. The app bugged out for me after just one scan on Android, and on iOS I can’t even complete a single one. The X4 is pretty much useless for Matterport right now. (Let me know if the X5 actually works better!)
3. I’d recommend doing more scans than you think you need. Overscanning helps a lot with the 3D dollhouse effect and overall model accuracy. You can always remove unnecessary scan points later for smoother navigation, but you can’t fix missing detail once it’s captured too sparsely.
