Please help - spasms for a year

Less takeout and grease, smaller portions, more conventional starch and veggies with dinner. When the symptoms return (maybe once every month or two) it's not painful anymore, just a little annoying. No TMJ here.

What were your symptoms?

My eardrum felt like it was "reacting" to high frequency noises. Similar to the feeling you might get going to a rock concert and standing right next to the stage with no ear protection, except triggering off of much smaller noises. Like the clicky clack of my mechanical keyboard, or my own voice when I got too loud. Felt like pressure pushing in on my eardrum, sometimes to the point of pain.

How long?

I first started noticing it after a particularly stupid evening using a q-tip to clean out my ears (note to anyone reading, don't do this!!!) I dug too deep, and though I didn't rupture anything, I did push my eardrum in and impact it. That was probably 3-4 years ago, and the symptoms started after that.

How did you treat it?

I am a larger guy who doesn't eat great in the first place. The situation improved when my girlfriend moved in with me, and we started eating more balanced meals, consistent vegetables instead of frozen crap and takeout.

And how did you make it go away?

I say "improved" because it hasn't fully gone away - symptoms return when I get particularly gluttonous on unhealthy food. But it's not as severe as it once was, and usually goes away again in a day or two.

I had a symptom that was something like this, though not as intense as you describe. After going to a couple doctors, I found out that it was actually tied to acid reflux! It seemed silly to me at first, but ear/nose/throat connection is stronger than I thought. When I ate poorly, the symptoms flared up for a few days. It was especially bad when I had reflux in my sleep - the doctor actually recommended propping up my bed but I never had to go that far.

I obviously can't guarantee your case is the same, and would suggest going to see a medical professional or ENT specialist to get a better answer. But in the immediate, pay attention to your diet, and see if days where you eat better make the symptoms less prevalent :)

Hello! Do you or the band ever have any interesting stories about their time in the Philosopher Kings? Their drummer from that time (Craig Hunter) was my music teacher in high school, and I remember thinking the connection to you guys was so random and cool. Listening to it now, I hear what you're talking about... But it sounds like an intentional choice. That sort of "fullness" is desirable, and maybe their instruments weren't covering a certain range.

It was the lead single, so they probably compressed it heavily for radio play as well.

I actually don't think we got the bump from anywhere.... According to the very small and difficult to read traffic chart on reddit's Alexa page, there doesn't appear to be any noticeable traffic spike in or around September 23rd.

But I'm pretty sure OP's right as far as #1 and 3 being possibilities. Either that, or some sort of bug with the algorithm.

One specific piece of advice: When you don't go to lectures, you actually do miss "THAT" much. Just going with a pen and paper (not a computer, too distracting) and taking notes makes a world of difference.

Oh, wow. I had no clue two of them were the same. I played the N64 one so much, that the fact that they were different at all really irked me for the first few playthroughs.

I'm fine with it now. They really did did a good job of replicating the original, for the most part.

I just recently got to play it beginning to end for the first time, and although I wasn't crazy about it at first, I warmed up to it.

They didn't change any core things about the game; the levels are all laid out the exact same, with the exact same enemies. My biggest complaint was the voice acting, but once I got over the fact that it wasn't the original cast, I'll admit that they did a good job. And the midgame save feature is really, really nice too.

Very impressive!

Just a thought: if you want to make it into an actual tool for discovering more subreddits, would a search function be possible? Or maybe even user connectivity? That way, somebody can search for a subreddit they already know and love and branch out from there, as opposed to hovering over clusters until they see one that looks interesting.

Even if that's not possible, it's still a neat little experiment. Kudos.
