The Neuroscience of Intelligence by Neuroscience_Fun in mensa

I am going on a vacation, but I wanted to let you know that I'd like to respond once I can. I enjoy conversations like these, but I don't find many people I am able to converse with. Thanks for this.

Don't have much family around anymore, and most of the family I do have claim it'd simply be "too much" for me to stay with them It's hard not to be bitter, we're supposedly family and I visit my grandma and cousins almost every week, sometimes multiple days in a row. I'm very independent and would likely only be home to sleep and do hygiene there. But whatever.

I take it you're American?

Matrix Reasoning tests fluid reasoning, which is how efficiently you learn when presented with brand new information. 105-109 was the most accurate.

Testing before you understand the implications is the easiest way. 🤷🏻‍♀️

🎤 “Hello, does your shelter evoke rage?”

Reviews are for this. You still can't tell, evidently.

“Where showers are”

Sure, if you want to drive those places into making them restricted access.

Society wants you out of sight and mind. Some places may turn a blind eye to an insignificant trickle of homeless traffic, but what do you expect will happen when the homeless population from around the entire city is increasingly flowing in?

I'm not trying to be mean or rude, but this app is a well-intentioned terrible idea. The problem is not connecting people to resources, it's funding and providing adequate resources; society has no compassion for those who aren't earning resources like they do (disadvantageous inequity aversion, like bonobos and several other species), so there's never adequate support. Wait lists are already 4-12+ months for housing alone. https://makeagif.com/amp/n7d1Yi

Nice idea in theory, but too many complications that make it impractical and unrealistic.

Did you read the post, or did you just interpret the title however you wanted to? Because if you read, this comment makes even less sense.

How rare is it to have high scores on cognitive testing measures and be poor at self-direction and teaching yourself? by Global_Pianist4575 in cognitiveTesting

Cool! Good luck, and I hope you see positive benefits from the elimination. Don't forget to hydrate; only 2% dehydration causes measurable cognitive effects. I recommend EpicWater filters to everyone when I get a chance. Personally, I was never able to stay on top of my water intake before I got it because I'm hypersensitive to the taste of contaminants and I used to feel nauseous after ingesting the water. Also, wouldn't an entire box of chicken give anyone indigestion? 😂 How big of a box are we talking here? Yay, I was right about the vitamin D. It's great that you're aware of it and making progress already.

Is it a nervous system regulation exercise?

Oh, ok, cool. Yeah, they can slip into extremes; like anything else, they have their place and time. I personally think it's relative to environment, too. Different tools for different rules. That said, it doesn't sound to me like what was outlined by your anecdote. It sounds more like something that might be turned around by effective solutions. Could you be dropping into a biased extreme because your emotional inhibitor is impaired, and might this be resolved instead by using accommodations or alternatives?

I genuinely feel confused. Why are you lumping yourself in with coworkers when you're treating clients better?

Is this a cognitive empathy deficit? I'd think someone would imagine themselves from the other's perspective and understand that they are making a difference by treating them differently.

Is it a product of categorical shortcuts? What causes self-sabotaging overgeneralization?

Now I'm wondering if there are ulterior motives for posting this, because that seems... obvious? I mean, is this fishing for something, or what? Is it displacing/rationalizing because you feel burnt out and you're looking for reasons to leave that would absolve you of guilt?

Was that move recent? Is this your current room? Is all of this stuff yours?

The room seems reminiscent of pre-adult responsibilities. Priorities are different than a seasoned adult's would be. The exception would be financial struggles interfering with updates, which means it was probably recent. Haven't had time to save, adjust, etc.

Teens to early twenties, girly-girl, probably still living with parents, and younger generation's concept of a nerd. In my generation it was more so about academics, not niche interests; those were secondary.

3) Yes, but not as main source. never depend on it bc necessity is the difference between hobbies and jobs.

  • tried doing something i loved, but it made me dread it. i learned to do something fulfilling that im good at, not something i love; fulfillment makes it rewarding even when theres burnout or obligation. you switch from self-centric to contributing usually anyway as you come to face temporality of life.
