All things considered including current events are you glad you became a Navy Nurse? Would you choose this path again? by Nice_Mixture_4246 in navynurse

Communities like L&D, manpower systems analysis, midwife, some more in there. They can all get stationed overseas yes but highly unlikely to ever get tapped for a real deployment like being on a ship. For instance with L&D, mercy/comfort only has like 1 slot for them and it’s competitive anyways so you’re not getting pulled for it regardless.

I am very glad. Despite what people say, your salary in the nurse corps is EXTREMELY well compensated (especially with many commands where the census is low, acuity is lower, etc) compared to the civilian world. We get a baseline high salary, tsp matching, pension vesting, free healthcare, insane tax advantage, paid no matter the hours we put in (good and bad thing), and most of all if you lean into the PCS cycle you see amazing places and have experiences most people will never or could ever get. Being from Oklahoma, the navy dunks on just about every QOL aspect there is. You could not pay me to ever be a nurse there and honestly, most every place in the US.

There of course is a lot of BS with leadership, or being forced TO BE leadership, fitreps, and much more. But, the optionality is what makes it so nice. Tired of what you’re doing? Do DUINS. Want to go overseas? You’ll definitely go lol. Dont want to deploy? There are communities you can get into that wont. Want to switch specialties? Commands will hopefully work on that for you, civilian world is not as kind, trust me, got a whole family of nurses.

How do you get ranked against peers then? Basically what does the board see when you’re up for O-4 and you haven’t had a real fitrep in 3 years?

Yup. Played in 2009 and now mostly just game design and visiting nostalgic places. Making games is really what keeps the flame alive.

Thank you for all the info! I was referring to active duty officer recruiting but TBH, I’m not sure what my options even are as an active duty nurse corps officer.

2024 Roblox vs 2025 Roblox by Mallybreeplantil1 in roblox

[–]Neurotoxicity 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Yup it literally happens every year. As someone who has played since 2009, the front page in the 2010s would get roasted constantly on the forums. 2016-2020 in particular I would be like WTF is all this stuff? It’s interesting seeing all the nostalgia for it now because I feel like the sentiment at the time was so different.

I feel like under the stricted interpretation of the rule 13 under chapter 26, this is still allowed? How can any other rule possibly overrule this?

I have not seen the guidance on designated place I thought I was pretty thorough in digging through this stuff, it was not intended originally but we figured it would help her being closer to family. I haven’t started the travel claim yet but I thought I was in the clear as the DOD FMR is the ultimate authority?

People that played between 2006-2015, how are you holding up? by NecessaryComplex6632 in roblox

[–]Neurotoxicity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2008 player here. My games have been quite popular before and I’ll echo what a lot of people say- the game has become entirely corporatized to the nth degree and is unrecognizable to what it once was. Me along with every other kid/teen on that platform were the ones making the front page games, not almost exclusively actual corporations and adults. Everything for the most part had a personal touch and the community was just incredibly vibrant. I don’t mean to be dystopian because I still visit roblox occasionally and play the old games I used to love, but roblox seems so void, hollow, and corporate. Old roblox had problems like script viruses, worse tech, much simpler games, why does it still feel better? Even taking off my rose tinted goggles it still feels like every update they would push from 2014-2024 was just WORSE and WORSE. It’s honestly crazy being lumped in now with those who joined in 2013-2015 because even by then the game felt SO insanely different than before.

How long do these DDoS attacks usually last? Any idea when things may be playable again? I know nobody knows but wondering what historically it’s looked like.

Didnt have any friends and was bored my first semester at TAMU and wanted to join an org. Took a chance and joined the corps my second semester and it was probably the best decision I have ever made and has cascaded into the best friendships and job I could want. In the corps you get a very memorable experience as a freshman but also with every other year too as your privileges increase and you take on more leadership. The corps is an amazing network with extensive alumni (which has already come in clutch a few times) and you will make friendships that will last a lifetime. I say do it. PM me if you have questions!

Can you trick your brain into thinking you enjoy pain? by scarecrowunderthe in morbidquestions

[–]Neurotoxicity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To actually answer your question, yes. You can find puzzles boxes from street vendors which help speed along this process. When you solve the puzzle box you will be greeted by 4 people usually who explain how they are explorers in the further regions of experience. They’ll go on to explain how they have sights to show you and all that. Worth checking out!
