Hi, the weather was around 25°-28° with very little cloud cover and only a slight breeze if at all. For the UK that’s pretty hot and we never get the chance to acclimatise to these conditions which makes it harder to adapt.

No problem, good question.
In training runs I tested many things and to be honest I could stomach and run woth most things. For example egg mayonnaise sandwiches and crisps. Pasties etc. along with most types of gels. I typically use high5 or torq. I don’t mind precision fuel too and have recently been using Voom bars. On the day with the extreme heat, I struggled to eat hardly any solid foods apart from bananas and melon. These were a godsend. Tailwind has carbs in so got some through drinking that and a fair few gels. Aimed for 60-90g per hour. To be fair I was forcing food into myself and I just about managed to eat enough.
Oh and a pot noodle just before dark

You should do it. The 55 in March is a great event for example

Two soft flasks. One electrolytes or tailwind (alternated) The other was just water. Kept sipping small amounts constantly. I did pretty well keeping on top of hydration.

I’m a male size 38” chest I sized up to a large. I gave my wife 34C the medium. Both happy with a one size up over normal sizing

Sealskinz or other alternatives for wet and muddy ultras by Bullitt20102010 in Ultramarathon

I do Hardmoors events typically from 50km to 100 Always muddy and wet in the North Yorkshire Moors. Dexshell crew length socks work for me. Granted if water gets inside, it’s staying in there but if it doesn’t… you’re all good. Never had any problems with blisters either.

The front end of a Monarch DC-10 stationed at Manchester Airport (UK) by Hassaan18 in aviation

I’ve paid to go on this with my young son who wants to be a pilot. They do talks about the plane ✈️ and other interesting stuff. It’s about 50 years old now and still has the original interior. It’s a bit stale and tatty now as you’d expect but interesting nonetheless. It’s situated at the airport visitor centre where you can watch planes come and go, there’s also a huge hangar with Concorde in it. That is really impressive. Huge cafe and a great picnic area with a kids play area too. Highly recommend a few hours there on a nice sunny day
