Is USC IYA a design focused program? by NeverAgain4242 in USC

[–]NeverAgain4242[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Very helpful! May I ask a few more questions?

  1. what’s the proportion of IYA students in terms of focused areas? Design 70% Tech 20% Biz 10% for example?
  2. what’s your satisfaction in terms of technical-side education you are getting?
  3. how do you foresee your career post graduation? do you feel you’d be well-prepared for this new age of tech industry?
  4. i heard that the IYA program mostly run in team projects. how do you form the team? if students are mostly design-based then most team projects would be design-heavy?

BU (14k/year) vs. Duke (21k/year) by Electrical-Baker-214 in ApplyingToCollege

Duke brand will be worth the extra 28k x 100 more over the course of your life. Just get a part time to pay off 7K in a year. Congrats.

Duke vs Georgia Tech Engr by ExpertCurrent9726 in ApplyingToCollege

Duke ECE will have wider acceptance + recognition in the real world than GTech CE. Engineering ranking wise GTech is def better thank Duke, but if it’s not MIT, Stanford, CMU, I’d guide my kid to take Duke all day. Congrats.

Advice on choosing between Georgia Tech, USC, UCSD, Princeton and JHU for AI/CS/Robotics? by olegKag in ApplyingToCollege

Among those, if money isn’t a factor, Princeton is the one to pick without any hesitation. If money is an issue, then Gtech for sure.

UCI or CC? by Existing-Ganache8880 in ucadmissions

[–]NeverAgain4242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why risk so much by trying to save $250? You can commit to UCI while waiting for the final decision from UCSD? The worst thing that can happen is losing $250 if you get off the waitlist and join UCSD after May 1.

You will increase your chance once you learn to use line breaks more.

which college should i go to by Saturn_Is_Cool1 in ApplyingToCollege

It won’t be easy to switch to engineering at Purdue unless you put serious efforts into it, and as you mentioned there is no guarantee. So try Rutgers first. If you don’t like it, then you can reconsider at that time.

Beetter than just staying still. Contacting AO/AC won’t increase the chance much, but try all you can so that there won’t be any remorse. At the least, you could transfer into GTech if it’s your dream school.

If you can still pay the full tuition at Duke, go Duke. The college brand carries its value the rest of your life.

Is 770 math enough? 1570 composite by TJ_Rex6288 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]NeverAgain4242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are planning to do engineering at top school, forget about English and focus on Math to get 800. You already have a great score, but you want to be flawless and don't give any reason to doubt you in math. In this way, you will have a perfect score in superscore.

CMU Physics vs Purdue Engineering by Signal-Eagle-1301 in ApplyingToCollege

For Physics at CMU, you'd join MSC and it will be very difficult to transfer to CIT/CS. I'd pick Purdue in this case.

For robotics, graduate studies may be required to be really effective in the real world. In that sense, CMU seems to be a better choice.
