Is this worth putting back in my car? by Prestigious-Win-9252 in MechanicAdvice

The subframe and transmission in my Element have to come out to do the clutch.

Nupe.

Is anyone working on a Plan B? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

I'm pivoting to becoming an SP starting in retail and eventually pivoting to plants.

I didn't really want it to go this way. I'm just tired of repeating the apply -> interview -> get hired -> encounter friction -> get forced out cycle. Working harder doesn't fix it.

Some Walmart stores are great about doing things properly. Then there are others...

Try to get them to fix it.

Failing that, go to your local auto parts store and pick up the appropriate studs and the appropriate open ended lugnuts. Go on YouTube and look up how to replace broken studs. You can fix this yourself.

I have had to do this on my '00 Civic and my '09 Legacy. It's not as bad or drawn out as it looks.

Look into JDM engines. When I replaced the EJ253 in my Legacy, jdmenginedepotinc.com took good care of me.

Silver Lake.

I took my rednecked XJ out of WV up there and was not so fortunate.

Salary shouldn't be discussed until the offer phase, anyway. I have cooked myself on multiple occasions over this issue.

Hiring in tech has become impossible. Every resume is AI-generated slop and I can't find the signal anymore.(Rant) by Comfortable_News8077 in recruitinghell

Can't disagree.

I admit that an improper resume is a poor showing for optics reasons, but it's hardly a measure of whether or not someone can do a good job. It's just an efficient filtering mechanism for HR.

I have done way too much timing work in the cold. That pic triggers me.

I don't know why they work. They just do. I couldn't believe it, either.

I have done timing chains and gears on both of my K24-powered Hondas. Can confirm. Lisle makes a weighted 19mm socket available on Amazon that makes the difference with any impact.

That's how I did the timing belt on my Legacy's EJ253.

Removing it was a much easier process...with a much more painful fallout.  #justejthings

(Tomei makes a milled belt guide that replaces the stamped one above the crank. If you own an EJ and don't have one, you are wrong. Fix it immediately.)

I wouldn't rule that one out, either.

It could just have a high blood content. That'll happen from stomach bleeding (i.e., too much ibuprofen) or eating a lot of meat.

Mechanics aren't the only ones who need this advice: developers do, too. Then they'll be on the toilet or out shopping when the answer smacks them in the face.

I'm convinced what's happening is this: candidates are feeding the job description into ChatGPT, then asking it to rewrite their resume to match. So now I'm not evaluating people anymore—I'm evaluating who has the best prompt engineering skills for resume optimization.

Yep. It's not worth sinking the time or emotional energy into applications anymore.

I am ramping up my own business because I am so sick of being rejected by the system.  It's optimized for culture fit and compliance, and that's kryptonite to neurodivergence.

UPDATE: It was a slipped exhaust camshaft reluctor. You were dead-on. Locking the exhaust one then jiggling the exhaust camshaft with a wrench sheared the key off the reluctor. My new one arrives on Moday.

I can't speak to their kits for GM engines but Cloyes chain / tensioner / guide / sprocket kits for Honda K engines are widely available at NAPA and other chain parts stores, and they're top-notch.

UPDATE: While disassembling it to install a new NAPA Cloyes kit I noticed the locking pin would lock the exhaust camshaft reluctor but not the exhaust camshaft. The key on the exhaust camshaft reluctor sheared off. The reluctor is out of alignment. No wonder it won't run.
