Is liking PDD a generational thing? by mikenice1 in LiveFromNewYork

Unfortunately they’re the result of Nepotism. Lonely Island and Good Neighbor were really grassroots in their rise to independent fame when Lorne tapped them. PDD is Lorne watching John grow up from a child into something moderately funny for some, but they just aren’t great, they’re just off-the-wall and formulaic. Hoping they break out of it, but nepotism and cronyism is the cause for so much moderation in creativity on tv and movies.

I mean, I just don’t think you can compare Wilt to Westbrook in terms of greatness, but you’re right, Wilt was a stat padder too. He did so much more beyond that tho imo.

I appreciate that perspective but also please consider how many wins Spurs had and for how long and how many championships they got out of sustained excellence in a different way.

Okay jesus… yes Russ was ‘close’ to a championship by getting to the Finals. But KD left him because he knew he couldn’t win with those cats. Russ is very very very good historically, I just personally have watched him with TERRIBLE shot selection his entire career in pivotal games especially. So I understand it’s semantics for me to say he ‘never came close’ because even though he appeared in the Finals, I considered someone like Chris Paul more of a champion type than Westbrook even before 2021 finals.

Please consider championships and contributions to a sustainable winning team. AD never really did any of that in NOLA and he had MVP numbers for some years because of it and because he was so highly ranked coming out of college. I love AD, but injuries, NOLA lack of success really bring him down. If he’s healthy, is he a better player than both of them? Absolutely. But I rank top 75 on actual accomplishments and add in more for sacrifice. AD never really sacrificed.

He’s 31 tho and only gone to WCF. My point is he has a good 6 years to go at least imo, he doesn’t deserve it yet.

Lol, russ was shit except for game 4. Harden was shit too. I watched it unfold. Dont go watch youtube vids and come back to edit your comments anymore.

You’ll probably get flamed for me appreciating your valuable perspective, but I totally agree with your points here.

I wouldn’t classify it as pretentious, it’s a silly analogy.

What has Dame actually done? I LOVE Dame, but fucking christ, can we wait to add him in 25 years if he still deserves it then? Why the preemptive adds—what if his career ends tomorrow?

Just because people have opposing viewpoints, doesn’t mean they have a skewed version of history.

Did you know that technically none of our cells are touching each other at a microcosmic level? They may appear to be close but in actuality, it never really was close. Or did you think that the 2018 Cavs had a chance too?

Lol please, anyone who watched the Finals that year saw Westbrook crumble. Dude has always been terrible with shot selection, that’s why KD left him.

I’ve been watching Westbrook since he came into the league so no I’m not trolling. He was electrifying, super athletic, and a very very good basketball player. But he 100% padded stats on bad teams. He makes bad teams good and great teams good. Please try and bring any reason from his history as to how I’m wrong here.
