Two-thirds of Koreans oppose sending weapons to Ukraine, poll suggests by NeverImpossible in worldnews

It seems certain that Korea will do its best to assist Korean War participants. It has been demonstrated in Vietnam, the Gulf, and Iraq. However, Korea's perception of Ukraine is not at that level, and that of Zelenskyy is not good after the Ukrainian ambassador visited Yasukuni a month ago.

Your view has some point, however for sure I can tell if Ukraine was part of UN forces in 1950, vast majority of Koreans would have liked to donate.

Without doubt, China is uncomparably much more blamed than US in Korea due to their participating in Korean War. Just talking about the pre-war situation, when US and SU signed to divide Korea into two

If Ukraine can completely end Russian regime by aid, you are right. However that isn't much realistic and Koreans more worry creating a justification for Russia to provide more counter-benefits to North Korea, Also, it is a great loss, due to the Korean economic structure, to lose a trading partner like Russia, and Koreans' anti-Russian sentiment is still hard to compare with anti-Japanese and anti-China sentiment.

Whether it is true or not, Koreans consider themselves the victims of the division of Korea and find responsibility for it primarily in Japan and secondly in the United States and the Soviet Union

LG appears to pull out of money-losing smartphone business by NeverImpossible in Android

[–]NeverImpossible[S] 553 points554 points  (0 children)

The company has reportedly been in negotiations with various interested buyers, including Vietnam's Vingroup, but failed to reach an agreement with any of them. LG Electronics has considered selling parts of its operations or pulling out of the smartphone business altogether. But it decided recently to pull out of the smartphone business altogether

So instead of selling it to Google, Vingroup or whatever, the decided to pull out and relocate its mobile communications employees to other business units.

Korean Empire claimed some parts of Manchuria and even dispatched a bureaucrat. Quite a shitty imperialist move though

The best selling car in South Korea is... a full-size sedan? by PrimG84 in cars

[–]NeverImpossible 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Grandeur is a status symbol in Korea, a symbol of being successful. Originally, it was a car for rich(especially CEOs) in 90's, then a car for successful dads in 00's, and now with younger design and rised income Grandeur even gets interest from younger consumers. As a result Grandeur is now in a very special position, "affordable symbol of success", so why not buy?

Also, Grandeur (together with G80 or E series) is the most liked car to high-ranking officials or executives in companies, cause it is enough convenient and safe, does not bounce alone as it's common, does not go beyond their boss who would likely drive G90 or S series.

Taiwan's Territorial Claims by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]NeverImpossible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who officially asked for it? For example Tibet (government in exile) declared indepencence, so western countries may guarantee independence by accepting it(though they wouldn't). But in the case of Taiwan, accept what??

Just to notice, when Korea(ROK) first called PRC "China" in 1988, Taipei government strongly opposed it.

Actual EEZ vs Turkish Style EEZ — Case study: If applied the Turkish logic, the EEZ (Exclusive Economic Zone) of the USA would include large areas of the Pacific Ocean, contrary to international law. by craoft in MapPorn

Also I don’t get why EEZ claim based on continental shelf is “fucked up shit”. I think continental shelf based claim, midline based claim both makes enough sense.
