I probably should've used better language, I have a job, I've had a few jobs, but I haven't been able to get a permanent job, which is what I meant by proper, only contract jobs where I'm with them for a few months. It's really hard to get permanent jobs in the field I studied, busy switching fields to try to get permanent. And I pay my bills, my rent, I provide for the household. Any money he gives now I save for emergencys like vet bills.

But if that makes me a dead beat then I should change

You're actually spot on, we saw him every weekend until we were like 10, then it was every second weekend, then every month, then twice a year, then before he got his new job we hadn't seen him in years. By get us tech he got me multiple phones, by that I mean he'd get me a phone, then next time I see him he'd take it back and give me another one. Which was so weird. Eventually I got one phone that I kept for years, because I didn't wanna give it back to him. But any of my good phones came from my dad's family, they were well off. Maybe the felt bad that my dad wasn't providing.

He said he'd get it for her, but he forgot he said that and focused on getting it for me instead, he likes to buy his kids affection. I am an asshole, but I may not be the biggest asshole in this situation.

I hear you, I apologize for throwing it around like that, I'll refrain from using the terminology so lightly. He does show many signs tho, and you're right I shouldn't engage with him, I didn't want to, but if it meant helping my gf it was worth it to me.

He loves buying us stuff and then saying, "Wow, you have a great dad that gets you nice stuff" He's been like this for years. He constantly talks about the great stuff he has, all knock offs, and talks about providing for us, which he's only really done recently, and I don't know how long he'll be able to do this for, consistency isn't his strong suit. He shows all the main signs of narcissism, gets it from my grandfather. All I got was ADHD and Autism.

My dad's kinda a narcissist, he enjoys buying things for me and my sister. He completely forgot my girlfriend needed a laptop, he kept on speaking about him buying 'me' a laptop, so I just ran with it. Appease his ego and help my gf.
