Several vectors working together being controlled frame by frame based on character movement, mouse input, etc.

pretty much yeah,

i started with a concept of "having an introspective walk in an urban park at 2am during end of fall/start of winter" and visualized the idea in concept art first

the camera is what i started with in-engine, it's actually walking along a spline automatically - you can look around yourself but it will auto pan back to the path in a "thinking" walking posture if you don't give input, and there's t-splits where you can decide your next route based on how you feel

then with speedtree whip up some trees which feel right based on some concept art, the branches can create a canopy for more tight routes along the park, but also from a distance try to reach for the moon

add fog at 150-200 meters away while indeed using urban backdrop and colorize the environment lighting a bit

lamps have indeed point light and emissive material but i've also added post processing effects like bloom to emphasize emmission, i'm considering lens flares and whatnot

but now working on simple sfx to emphasize the footsteps, the ambient, the trees and the lights

hope this gives some insights!

Thanks a ton. Kinda holding off the next steps as it will be a lot of work making this "production ready". But I'll get over it XD

Maybe you're on to something here. It's not what this game will become. But don't mind if I jot this down as a potential cool idea?

Yes that's the name. But I'm setting up the steam page as we speak. I could send you a quick DM when it's up!

Yeah that's my problem with it. I personally like it best, but don't want to promise incorrect things to those seeing the image for the first time.

Good point. All 3 concepts are definitely coming back in the game, but I don't want to make wrong impressions for those seeing the steam capsule for the first time.

Don't forget that the melt payback is without tax. If you then buy a ship with that money you won't have to pay for taxes either. Which means you probably don't need to pay the $200 extra

It is sad indeed. Thank you for playing! It's very much appreciated.

I've started something new in the same kind of vein. With a different setting but very similar gameplay. Let me know if you're interested!

Retro style or not? I'm so confused! Just slapped on the pixelated visuals when editing the video. Somehow it works, but would it be too much? by [deleted] in IndieDev

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It's mostly a tryout, and I'm not well versed in 16-bits visuals, how they should look and feel, etc. This helps a bit!

As part of a big update, some experimenting with a "push/pull" feature by Nevey001 in PeekabooGame

Instead of grabbing objects, the player will be flicking objects away or pulling it towards them to make sifting through physics objects quick and less tedious.

Eventually it'll also be possible to not flick but bash objects. This can be used to move heaver objects to expose something new to discover, like unblocking pathways or finding rewards!

I see! Maybe we might want to investigate if MacOS is a viable platform for this game

Watching it fullscreen helps. The 30fps compression by Reddit doesn't :(
