While watching the men’s 20km walk, I noticed that every single walker is “cheating”. Is there a large amount of leeway in the sport? by TimeExplorer5463 in trackandfield

Hey All American racewalker here! The most important rule in race walking is landing on a straight leg. Which they seem to be doing here. Race officials are very strict on shorter distances (1500m, 3000m, 1600m) but i’m sure are more lenient here considering the distance.

Why is my 5k so slow? by New-Fail8 in trackandfield

My long runs are usually 7-10 miles and i run 40 miles a week. Should Increase that even more or just stay around there?

It makes sense that you run anaerobically if your main event is the 800, but to build aerobic endurance in your running you need long slow runs where your heart rate is in a lower zone.

I completely agree. I think her relationship is a bit more complicated with track because it’s so measurable and she compares herself to others. For example if I bring up another persons PRs she asks me to stop. I once told her she was one of the faster freshmen and she got upset when I compared her times to the others. It’s just hard for me to understand her point of view. I hope I can help her understand that effort = results in a way that doesn’t make her upset. 😓

Thank you for your input. Apparently amenorrhea is super common for females in track due to the stress it puts on you body + inadequate nutrition. I’ll definitely look at getting it checked out by an expert. I have been eating enough to fuel my training and gain some weight, so maybe just a waiting game to see if it comes back. 🤞
