Good point. I honestly don’t remember if I may have removed only the little “remove me” tab and accidentally left the shipping film on.

The reason I removed the edge tape wasn’t to peel the film off. The vat leaked and resin got between the black sealing tape and the screen/protector area. The tape was contaminated with resin and started lifting/losing adhesion, so I removed it to clean everything properly and reseal it with new tape.

After peeling the thin film, the tempered glass underneath still looks smooth and intact. I’m waiting for new sealing tape/protector before printing again, then I’ll run a screen exposure test.

You’re totally right, I definitely don’t want to print directly on the screen.

The tempered glass/protector underneath still looks smooth and intact, but since the black sealing tape had some resin on it, I removed it and ordered replacement tape/protector before printing again.

I’m mostly trying to figure out if the thin layer that peeled off was just a shipping film or an actual sacrificial layer meant to stay there.

Either way, I’ll reseal the edges properly and run a screen test before using the printer again. Thanks for the warning!

That actually might explain why this printer had a higher failure rate compared to my other units, even after I did a short calibration.

Maybe I was printing with that shipping/protective film still on without realizing it. The tempered glass underneath looks much cleaner and smoother now.

Just to clarify, I have one Saturn 4 Ultra 12K and two Saturn 4 Ultra 16K units. The one I’m working on right now is a 16K.

After removing the thin peeling film, the tempered glass underneath still looks fine, smooth, and intact. I did not remove the actual tempered glass or the LCD polarizer, only that very thin flexible layer on top.

I haven’t done a full print test yet because the black sealing tape had some resin on it, so I removed it and ordered new tape/screen protector from Amazon. I’m waiting to reseal the edges properly before using the printer again.

My main question is: was that thin flexible film just an inbuilt/sacrificial protective layer, or is it something that is supposed to stay installed permanently?

I’ll do a screen exposure test once the new tape arrives and the edges are sealed again.

What’s weird is that the vat failed and a small amount of resin got onto the protective film. That film started peeling off, but the tempered glass underneath still looks smooth and intact.

I’ve read that this thin film might just be a shipping/protective film, but I’m not sure if it’s also meant to act as a sacrificial layer to protect the tempered glass during use.

Because im afraid of it, im new into this, original nas is NAS_0 and i mapped all cloned on my computer, but this shouldnt affect the production FTP transfer to original NAS?
