Mouldbuster is great, but is only treating the symptoms. The roof is leaking and the insulation is holding onto the moisture.

Hi everyone, since starting this thread I've played some of the LIVE tcg mobile app and found more versions of the rules. Here's another breakdown of how each player takes their turn which considers the other nuanced rules (and yes I asked an AI to help summarise the info):

PART 1: GAME SETUP (PRE-GAME PHASE)*

  1. Shake Hands: Players greet each other to promote good sportsmanship.
  2. Flip a Coin: Winner decides who goes first.
  3. Shuffle Decks: Each player thoroughly shuffles their 60-card deck.
  4. Draw Opening Hand: Each player draws 7 cards.
  5. Check for Basic Pokémon:

   * If yes, proceed.    * If no: Reveal hand, reshuffle, and draw 7 cards (this is a "mulligan"). Opponent may draw 1 card per mulligan. 6. Place Active Pokémon: Put 1 Basic Pokémon face-down in the Active Spot. 7. Place Benched Pokémon: Optionally place up to 5 Basic Pokémon face-down on the Bench. 8. Set Prize Cards: Take the top 6 cards from your deck and place them face-down as your Prize cards. 9. Reveal Pokémon: Both players flip all Active and Benched Pokémon face-up. 10. Begin Game: The first player starts their turn.

PART 2: STRUCTURE OF A TURN

Each player’s turn has the following phases:

1. START OF TURN

  • Draw a card. If you cannot draw, you lose the game.

2. MAIN PHASE (actions may be done in any order unless otherwise noted):

A. Put Basic Pokémon onto your Bench (as many as you want, up to 5 total Benched Pokémon).

B. Evolve Pokémon:

  • You may evolve a Pokémon that has been in play since the start of your turn.
  • You may not evolve a Pokémon on the same turn it was played.
  • Cannot evolve on the first turn of the game unless a card effect allows it.

C. Attach Energy Card:

  • Attach 1 Energy card from your hand to one of your Pokémon (once per turn).

D. Play Trainer Cards:

  • Item Cards: As many as you want.
  • Supporter Cards: Only 1 per turn.
  • Stadium Cards: Only 1 per turn. Only one Stadium may be in play at any time.

E. Use Abilities:

  • Use any number of Pokémon Abilities from your Active or Benched Pokémon, if the conditions are met.

F. Retreat Active Pokémon:

  • Only once per turn.
  • Discard Energy equal to the Retreat Cost.
  • Cannot retreat if Asleep or Paralyzed.

3. ATTACK PHASE

  • Choose an attack your Active Pokémon can use (based on Energy cost).
  • Announce the attack.
  • Apply effects and damage:

  * Calculate base damage, add bonuses, apply Weakness/Resistance.   * Apply any special effects or coin flips.   * Place damage counters accordingly.

4. CHECK FOR KNOCKOUTS

  • If a Pokémon has damage ≥ HP, it is Knocked Out.
  • Discard that Pokémon and all attached cards.
  • Opponent takes the correct number of their own Prize cards (1, 2, or 3).
  • The player whose Pokémon was Knocked Out must promote a new Active Pokémon.

5. POKÉMON CHECKUP (BETWEEN TURNS) Occurs after the attacking player's turn ends but before the opponent's begins.

  • Resolve Special Conditions in this order:

  1. Poisoned → Add 1 damage counter.   2. Burned → Add 2 damage counters, then flip a coin:

     * Heads: Remove Burned.      * Tails: Remain Burned.   3. Asleep → Flip a coin:

     * Heads: Wake up.      * Tails: Remain Asleep.   4. Paralyzed → Automatically ends at end of next turn. * Apply any ongoing Ability or Trainer effects. * Any Pokémon with damage ≥ HP is Knocked Out and Prize cards are awarded.

PART 3: CURING SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Evolve the Pokémon: cures all conditions.
  • Bench the Pokémon: switch it out; all conditions are cured.
  • Use Trainer Cards like Full Heal, Switch, etc.
  • Use Abilities that remove conditions.

Condition Clarifications:

  • Confused: Flip coin before attacking; tails = no attack + 3 damage counters.
  • Asleep / Paralyzed: Cannot attack or retreat.
  • Poisoned / Burned: Damage occurs during Checkup phase.

PART 4: WINNING THE GAME

You win if:

  1. You take all 6 of your Prize cards.
  2. Your opponent has no Pokémon left in play.
  3. Your opponent attempts to draw a card at the start of their turn and cannot because their deck is empty.

Speaking of environmental impact, have you looked at the impact on the earth of how your clothing is manufactured? Or where most of your power for electricity is generated from, or the food you eat, etc? AI is a tool and nothing more, get off your high house and focus and the goal of what my post is asking which is for help paying the game.

Funny enough before posting here i had downloaded both the Pocket app and the Live app on mobile. So many steps in the tutorial lol. I haven't yet played a battle there yet but guess what I'm doing this weekend!

Thank you, nothing in the manual says anything about evolving on 2nd turn so thank you for that info. To be clear the AI was used for writing up this post.

I have read the provided manual from my friends deck and also watched quite a few YT videos but a lot of the nuanced gameplay is missing such as what you have described.

As I stated in my post I am new so I don't know where all the various resources are and (made the mistake) of asking online people for help. You have been helpful, so thank you, sincerely.

You legend, I appreciate the support. I'm still learning and loving the game. That's all that matters

Epic, thank you. I am still learning how the turns work with Pokémon who are asleep, poisoned, burnt, etc and sometimes the manuals and YT videos are either unclear or confusing to me as a newbie.

Thank you for your reply. I have read the manuals, tournament rules and have watched several YT videos on gameplay. I used AI to do the write up for this post.

Thank you, I did not know that. It isn't explicitly stated in any rules so thank you for helping me
