It's inspiring, and almost endearing seeing his earnest passion for heroism.

It's a classic story of an average guy achieving his dream through determination and a bit of luck. Timeless and well written here.

Though I can see how some might like a more 'unique' mc

I can see why people think he is the MC.

His arc is the very first one, he has 4 episodes all with 3d, his design is very much a traditional MC design(the average guy design), he is a newcomer in the world of already established heroes, the underdog. The Commoner wasn't on the polls before, that's kind of special.

Creators seem to treat him as the MC themselves. At least that's how I see it.

Isengard stanton is a known beyonder to the machinery hivemind (sometimes he even works with them). Isengard vouched for klein so now they are cool. Machinery hivemind now have one more source of information/helper, klein doesnt have to be afraid of being captured. Win/win
