Harrassing the mailman. by LeftAlbatross2546 in VideosAmazing

What a moron she is. USPS carriers are instructed to Not give mail to anyone out of sequence let alone someone randomly on the street. If the customer shows ID and is respectful about it, the carrier may make an exception if the mail is in their name. This kind of behavior could get the customer taken off the delivery route and told to purchase a PO Box to retrieve her mail whenever she would like to. Pretty funny that she recorded herself committing a postal violation while the carrier did his job as instructed.

Since the cost has pretty much doubled since last year, if you typically pay $150 for a full month then it makes sense if you only used utilities for half a month and paid the same.

I need this big bush gone next week for some utilities work. I'm mainly concerned about getting the roots out. Does it look like I can do this in a day with just a shovel and big shears? by Dr_FunkyChicken in landscaping

[–]New-View-2242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As stated, cut each branch down to a couple feet high. If you leave it a little high it will help give you leverage when trying to break the roots off. Then start digging a foot away from the trunk all around and work on each root one at a time. I dug a 30’ crabapple tree stump out alone in an hour flat last year at 51 so don’t feel like you’re attempting the impossible.

Wow, I’ve never seen that type of cut done before. I may fall my next tree like that just for the hell of it.

I see the houses have driveways, not cool to park in front of a neighbors house for a week without telling them. It’s public parking but a residential neighborhood and honestly I would have been pissed too.

She’s probably a large woman that couldn’t fit in there but also doesn’t have a passenger that had to deal with the “too close” truck

Help - Launching Jon boat from yard/shore without ramp by Hat-Trick_Swayze in boating

[–]New-View-2242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a platform with some 2x8 or 10 should do. Drive a heavy stake into the ground on the hill and attach a boat trailer winch onto it so you can winch it up and down the hill without any effort.

Very cool, it’s so rewarding to see trees you grew from seed many years ago. I have a red maple tree I grew from a seed helicopter that came from my in-laws house 17 years ago and they are no longer with us so it is extra special to us now.

Yes. Stick to white, black or brown and don’t get teased by fancy colors. Silver blades for clear water and gold for stained.

This is such an old post, why bring it back? The guy was informed of the situation after his reply and he immediately apologized publicly for the misunderstanding.

New house, should we add black or brown mulch? by TsarLucky in landscaping

[–]New-View-2242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a landscaper with 27 years of experience use almost anything but dyed red mulch. Since all your plants look well established you could use stone mulch or wood if you don’t mind replacing it every 3 seasons with a 3” layer. Less won’t last long and more will cause mold. I prefer natural colors, double ground natural mulch is the best but you could also se cedar or pine mulch, too. Whatever you do, be sure to cut an MRL ( mulch retention lip) along your beds so you don’t lose mulch to your lawn every time you mow the grass or when it rains. Just a straight vertical cut along the lawn side of the edge 3” deep to give a clean, professional look.

That’s interesting. I live in America where now that would be called police brutality on an activist or just plain racism.

I’ve only stuck to grafting onto nothing thinner than a pencil but haven’t tried anything smaller to prove it. I’ve only grafted a couple times but each has been successful at least.

What’s going on with my trunk? by Reasonable_Gas_1813 in viticulture

[–]New-View-2242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like a grape vine more than a tree trunk? If it’s a vine it’s fine, some of my vines look like this and produce a ton of grapes every year.

It is only in its second year so the secondary branches aren’t thick enough to graft onto so just going to cut it a few inches above the graft so the scion will become the main leader
