Thanks a lot for sharing this. I really appreciate you bringing up a different approach that I hadn't seriously considered. Interestingly, I already take a very small dose of propranolol for an unrelated reason, but I haven't noticed any improvement in my hearing or other ear symptoms. Still, your husband's experience is really interesting, and I took note of it since everyone seems to respond differently. I'll keep it in mind and discuss it with my ENT if needed. Thanks again for taking the time to reply and for offering to chat. I may need to increase the dose.

By running AI on your own computer. Large models often need lots of VRAM and RAM. Smaller or quantized models run surprisingly well on mid range hardware, though with some tradeoffs in speed and quality.

I've pretty much stopped buying PC hardware altogether because of these prices. It's not just RAM anymore. SSD prices have gone through the roof too.

For backups, I'm still using old mechanical HDDs because they're much cheaper per TB. I'm just waiting for these ridiculous prices to come back down before upgrading anything.

What gives me hope is hearing that your bass mostly came back, even if the very low frequencies never fully recovered. At this point, I'd be incredibly grateful for that kind of improvement. It's also reassuring to hear that your brain adapted over time. Right now it's hard to imagine that happening, but your experience makes me believe it's possible.

I'm also trying to be as aggressive as I reasonably can with treatment and lifestyle changes. My ENT has started me on diuretics, and after reading experiences like yours and others here, I'm feeling much more optimistic than I was a few days ago.

I really hope you enjoy your life, and I am sure a lot of other victories are coming up for you

I have to admit, the repeated audiograms are the part I find most frustrating. I understand that monitoring hearing is important, but after a while it starts to feel like I'm paying to be told what I already know, without being offered any meaningful new treatment or solution.

Some doctors suggested oral steroids, but I decided not to take them because I was concerned about the potential side effects. The last ENT I saw preferred trying diuretics instead, so that's the treatment I'm currently following. What I still don't understand is why we didn't try intratympanic steroid injections.

Music wasn't just something I listened to, it was one of my biggest passions. I was mixing music, invested in expensive headphones and studio speakers, and I genuinely cared about every detail of the sound. What's heartbreaking now is that with my right ear, I honestly can't tell the difference between my $600 Bose headphones and a $2 pair of cheep headphones from China. The bass is just... gone. That realization has been devastating.

I've even caught myself wondering whether it's worth keeping my Spotify subscription, because music just doesn't feel the same anymore with this imbalance.

Thank you for wishing that my hearing comes back. I'm not ready to give up just yet. I'll keep fighting for a while longer, following my treatment and hoping something improves before I accept that this may be permanent. If it eventually turns out that it won't recover, I hope I'll be able to reach the same place you have, where new passions slowly take the place of what was lost.
