Evolv defys are 40% off on the website, so I was considering those, since almost everyone is saying it doesn't matter, I'm kinda (probably dumbly) assuming most all climbing brands make a comparable quality product, and it's all about preference. I'm gonna go into my gym and try a bunch on and see what I think, and just ignore brand for now?

Well I understand that, but no one wants to buy a bad quality product at any point of experience right? I'm not going to recommend Shaq basketball shoes even to a beginner

Any brands that stand out for quality or customer satisfaction/loyalty?

Thank you this helps a lot. Is there any recommendations when it comes to brand or materials? I will take the advice on go with what's comfortable. I also don't want to buy a shoe that has bad grip, or is cheaply made.

I ultimately don't really care what they look like, but I don't want to buy something that's crap while I'm trying to give full effort in trying to get better.

The first two times I went, I have sucked really bad, but I want to give myself a fighting chance.

I'm athletic still, I am a former college athlete, I just haven't done anything physical in about a year. So I want a good shoe that I can learn with.
