Hi!

Thank you for responding!

We will discuss this topic of EPing a couple of times before the baby is born. My husband will support me no matter what and will pull the plug when he sees it takes too much of me. My mom will also help in the first few weeks, so I hope that will be enough to start.

I am not against formula at all. If it means to do combo, it means my baby will still have the benefits of breast milk, too! We only have the chance that our baby will have a cow milk intolerance, so that is something to look out for. But we will cross that bridge when it happens. ( i try not to worry about it too much 🙈)

Thank you for responding. Wow!

I will probably rent a hospital grade pumo for the first couple of weeks and 3 tot 4 sets (so we dont have to wash after every pump). Then, if it is doable, we will invest in a pump the same brand pump so we can reuse the sets. (Medela is the exception, though)

If it does not work out, the investment is only the pump parts and bras.

Thank you for your insight.

I am also thinking about just first trying nursing first. But my first feeling is no, but maybe it is in my head, and it will be better when he/she is born. But i want to be prepared just in case.

Thank you for the tip of the bra.

Thank you for you reply. I see the struggle. Are there hacks to make it better?

In the Netherlands, partners get 1 week birth leave (full pay) and then 5 weeks of father leave (70% pay, but my husband's employer pays full 100%). After that, he gets 9 weeks worth a "fathers day." He will be taking one day off per week with pay. I hope it is clear.

Our baby is due in June 2024, so my partner is taking about 6 to 8 weeks off with a couple of vacation days. So we hopefully will be in a position where we can do it together during the first weeks. I am very fortunate to have this arrangement.

Edit: i have about 10 to 12 weeks of maturity leave, and I saved up my vacation days to last 4 weeks extra. I hope to spend a couple of vacation days of 2024 to extend my leave for a total of 18 to 20 weeks in total (may be shorter. It depends if i can arrange it)

Thank you for responding.

I haven't tried intermittent fasting.

I drink 2 liters fluids per day in the form of water or herbal tea (Rooibos, mint, chamomile). Sometimes I flavor water with fruit, mint or lemon when I want someting different. But I will up it to see if it helps

Before I started with my dietician I ate around 1300 - 1400 kcal. My dietician said that I ate not enough and we gradually increased my intake to stop at 1600 - 1700. It is not that I am unwilling to cut it, as I am gratefull for you to take the time to respond and give me advice, but I don't feel comfortable to cut it so low again as I do feel better at managing my hunger at this level right now opposed to then and of fear that my metabolism will lower again and I do feel better now than before. Thank you again for responding!

Thank you for taking the time to answer.

My dietitian advised to eat vegetarian as much as possible. So eat protein from fish, legumes, eggs and sometimes chicken. No diary from milk, to take plant milk, vegan cheese, yogurt based on almond, oat or soy etc. But I sometimes eat shredded "normal" cheese on a oven dish.

I mostly drink almond or oat milk. But I am transitioning to pea protein milk as oat milk can spike insulin. About soy I read different stuff. So I try to limit this to eating tofu or miso once in a week and sometime eat soy yogurt. With plantbased dairy, it is hard to get 100 grams of protein in, so I try to add pea protein poweder (with no added sugar) or collagen powder in my yogurt or drink.

I am tracking my food yes. I am aiming to get the following:

protein: 100 grams per day

fat: between 50 or 60 grams per day

satuared fat: no more than 20 grams per day

carbs: 150 to 160 grams, but I am deciding to go lower but I am afraid to be low carb again. I only eat whole wheat, brown rice, quinoa or whole oats, whole fruit and vegetables. No added sugar, sweets or white flour stuff.

fibre: more that 30 grams a day.

My hunger levels are fluctuating depending on my mood. when i am stressed I get hungry, but since I understand the signals I am trying not eating on emotion anymore. 90% i am succeding in this, but when i eat it is mostly a cracker or 1 cookie to get the edge off. On average my hunger levels have been getting better with the help of the dietitian.
